SKE48 was interviewed and talked about the "experience of being infected with new crown ". Lin was infected with COVID-19 at the end of August, the eve of the release of his 28th single "I Found You Then", where he served as the C position, and he was recuperating and treating at home. Although the severity rate of COVID-19 is lower among young people, it can still cause symptoms such as fever, loss of taste, fatigue and lack of energy. What kind of COVID-19 threat does SKE48’s new ACE face?
——On August 27, the nucleic acid test result was positive, , and he was diagnosed with the new coronavirus
Lin. I woke up around 4 or 5 o'clock that morning. I felt that I had a fever, and my temperature was 38.9 degrees. The (nucleic acid test) result was positive, and the health station contacted me to temporarily recuperate at home, and I have been resting at home since then.
——High fever persists
Lin had a fever of over 38 degrees for three consecutive days. My head is confused, I am always in a sluggish state, and I feel sick just reading the words on my phone... I can't even look at my phone when I have a fever.
——How did you feel at that time?
Lin had a headache and was really scared. The memory of having a fever is a bit blurry, and I was very hazy at the time, so I can’t remember clearly. But when I asked my mother later, she said that I was crying and saying things like “It’s so scary, so scary, so scary…” and “The new coronavirus is so scary.”
——I basically maintain a life without contact with my family at home.
Lin I always stay in my room and only go out when I take a shower and use the toilet. Meals are also delivered to the door and you can take them to your room to eat yourself. Although the nucleic acid test results of my family members are all negative, I am very afraid that I will infect them.
——It was around the fourth day when the fever subsided.
Lin. But from the third day I couldn’t smell or taste it…. Even after the fever subsided, my sense of taste and smell did not return, and eating became very difficult.
- What does it feel like to not be able to taste something?
Lin Many people have asked me this question. It is really just a matter of chewing. Because it has no taste, it feels like everything I eat is the same. People think that anything soft should taste the same, but even without the sense of smell and taste, white rice is still delicious.
——Understanding the taste of white rice
Lin Although it has no taste, it has the feeling of eating. I feel like just eating white rice will make me energetic. The autonomous group will distribute meals to COVID-19 patients, and will deliver lunches and breakfasts. The policy has really given me a lot of support, and I am really grateful.
——Do you feel a lot more relaxed after your fever subsides?
Lin's physical fatigue is so severe that he cannot recover no matter what. My whole body feels heavy. I feel like I'm going to collapse on the way to the shower. I feel so sick that I can't stand even when I blow dry my hair with a hair dryer... One time I actually felt terrible taking a shower. People at the health station contact me every day, and my mother reports to them: "I felt very tired on the 5th or 6th day, and my throat hurt, but it's much better now."
- You started activities again on September 7, have you gone to school now?
Lin Although I have always wanted to resume school as soon as possible, I am still a little worried. I would think about what if my classmates don’t want to get close to me because I have had COVID-19... But everyone still interacted with me as before, and I felt particularly warm. We did a science experiment to distill red wine and evaporate ethanol and water, but I couldn't smell the red wine and ethanol at all, which made me feel very scared... However, my friends around me encouraged me and said, "It's okay, it will be fine in a few weeks." I am very grateful to them.
- Are you still having problems with your sense of taste and smell?
Lin On the 12th or 13th day, I ate a sweet potato bread and suddenly I tasted it. It's a direct "What!" state. But when I ate dinner, I didn't taste the food again, and I thought it was strange. The next day, I tasted it again, and my sense of taste and smell slowly recovered after that.It was really touching, because after having been miserable eating tasteless meals, and suddenly feeling the taste and smell again, it really makes people realize the importance of the mouth and nose.
- On September 1, SKE48's new song "I Found You Then" was released, with Lin as the C position, and it topped the Oricon weekly chart.
Lin On the day of the release, I was not in good health yet so I couldn’t check social media platforms. Afterwards, I read the messages of support and encouragement sent by everyone, which moved me very much. Thank you very much. I have been joining SKE48 for a year and a half, and many events were canceled due to the epidemic. I hope that the epidemic will end soon and everyone can enjoy the stage with peace of mind.
