At about 23:50 on October 24, a fire broke out in a greenhouse where a farmer raised meat ducks in Caopo Village, Baliying Town, Huaxian County. A 2-acre greenhouse was burned down, and more than 10,000 ducklings were lost. Fortunately, no casualties were caused.
According to Mr. Zhang, a villager in the same village, he lives very close to the duck farm. He woke up from his dream at about 0:30 in the morning and learned that the duck farm was on fire and he worked with the villagers to put out the fire. "The wind was strong that night, and the fire broke out. I couldn't control it at all. When the fire brigade stopped the fire, the duck shed was basically destroyed."
"When they were sleeping at night, the ducklings screamed loudly." Mr. Zhang said that he went to the duck farm again the next day and saw that only the iron frame was left in the greenhouse, and the ducklings were burned everywhere under the shed. According to Wang Yazhou, his duck shed was just built three months ago at a cost of more than 100,000 yuan. The day before the fire, he had just spent more than 80,000 yuan to transport 11,000 ducklings from other places. Unexpectedly, it was completely burned down.
As for the cause of the fire, some villagers speculated that ducklings need to be heated with electricity. It is very likely that the temperature was too high that night and caused the wiring to catch fire, thus causing the fire. Wang Yazhou denied this, saying that what he used that night was not electricity, but two diesel hot air blowers. “I can’t explain how it started.”
