Because Tongtong’s injury was too serious, neither the local hospitals in Lushan County nor Ya’an City could treat her, so she was immediately transferred to West China Hospital.
After more than 20 days of treatment, Tongtong’s attending doctor Zhang Yange said that Tongtong suffered burns on both lower limbs, with 40% of the burn area being second to third degree burns. "The muscles behind Tongtong's lower limbs and the tendon tissue around the ankle joint are very seriously damaged. If it is completely necrotic and a large number of bones are exposed, the hope of saving it will be slim." Zhang Yange said that this needs further treatment to determine. The worst result is that one of the legs may be interrupted from the thigh for amputation.
