The Archives of Zhongshan City, Guangdong Province treasures a copy of "Forward" published in 1944. The fourth page published the article "Since Pangu founded the world, there are women offering machine guns." It tells the story of a Zhongshan woman who presented machine guns. The prototype of the protagonist in the story is Huo Shu, a young female student who participated in the women's cadre training class in Wugui Mountain District at that time.
On January 1, 1944, the Zhongshan People’s Anti-Japanese Volunteer Brigade was announced. People spontaneously organized donations and materials to the Volunteer Brigade to show their support. Huo Shu donated her savings and the property left by her father to the volunteer brigade to purchase machine guns. To this end, an author signed by Haiyan wrote a short story about the incident, recording the profound relationship between the volunteer brigade and the people of Zhongshan.
