Let’s take a look at the latest battle situation today:
1. First of all, the situation on Bachmut’s side
Generally speaking, for the Ukrainian army, the situation is stable. There are still hordes of Russians breaking through the Ukrainian defense line, but Ukraine is slowly driving them away. It's a tough job because we're talking about: In residential areas where both sides are fighting, there are plenty of places to hide.
In Optyne in southern Bachmut, the Ukrainian army has many difficulties, but it remains stable. The town is being destroyed. However, the Ukrainian army is sticking to it, and everyone knows the importance of this place. This must be kept, so they are sticking to it.
In further south, the Russian army encountered problems when crossing highways and canals. On the other side is the open field, and it is not sure how much progress their attack has been. The Russian army's statement shows that progress is very small.
Coordinates: Ozariyanifka, south of Bachmut (48°27'10.20"N, 37°56'10.79"E). A certain army's position (mainly trenches) was violently shelled by the Ukrainian army. The subsequent video taken by the Ukrainian drone showed that at least 16 people were killed. I watched the video and said, "Misfortune".
In northern Bachmut, the Russian army had some success in Soledar and Yakovlivka. In Soledal, they advanced along the north of the town, bypassed the quarry and entered a residential area north of the quarry.
In Yakovlifka, about four days ago they occupied the western suburbs of the town and now they are clearing the center of the town. Not sure how much they control, at least half of the towns are currently under control. The rest is likely to be gray areas.
Near Avdiivka, the Russian army has achieved some success in advancing this towards Nevelske. They actually regained two positions lost in a counterattack in Ukraine about two months ago. The Russians put more troops into Neversk, but their main attack failed on December 15.
Russian army has achieved some success in southern Malinka. They are attacking Pobjeda to the south. There are all kinds of mutual attacks around Novomykhailivka. The Russian attack on Vuhledar failed, and the Ukrainian army was putting pressure on Pavlivka.

Russia is trying to push Ukraine back to the river near Swatov and they seem to have some success in some areas.
This river refers to the Zherebets River, roughly as shown in the figure below. Please note that Karmazynivka was once occupied by Ukraine.
Near Kremina, Ukrainians claim that Ukraine has advanced to within 1.5 kilometers of Dibrova. A few weeks ago, the Russians said their main line of defense was about 2 kilometers south of the town. It is possible that Ukraine says they are 1.5 km west of Dibrois.
In any case, there are mutual attacks around Chernopopivka and Zhytlivka, and Ukrainian troops are active throughout the forest area around Kreminna, both north and south.
