The smallest proportion is , Saitama Prefecture, 40.01 people, ranking at the bottom for 31 consecutive years.
In 1963, when the investigation began, there were 153 elderly people over 100 years old. In 1981, there were more than 1,000 people. After exceeding 10,000 in 1998, the number increased by about 2,000 to 4,000 people each year, and this year it increased by more than 9,000 people.
Data released by the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare in July this year showed that the average life expectancy of Japanese people in 2019 was 87.45 years old and 81.41 years old for men, both of which set new historical highs.
