IT Home reported on November 7 that according to Taiwan’s Central News Agency, the wafer foundry UMC’s monthly revenue reached NT$24.344 billion (about NT$5.502 billion), while was the lowest in 6 months .
Specifically, UMC's revenue in October increased by by 27.07% year-on-year, and decreased by 3.46% month-on-month . The revenue has declined for two consecutive months, the lowest level since May this year. In the first 10 months of this year, UDian's cumulative revenue was NT$235.213 billion (about NT$53.158 billion), and increased by 35.91% year-on-year.
UMC predicts that in the fourth quarter, the operation will be affected by the inventory adjustment of the semiconductor industry, and the capacity utilization rate of may drop to 90%, the shipment of wafer will be reduced by about 10%, and the average selling price of the product will remain the same.
IT Home learned that the legal person stated that due to the continued inventory reduction of the computer and smartphone markets, UMC's revenue in November and December is expected to further decline, and the demand for 8-inch wafers is relatively weaker than that of 12-inch wafers.
