The Kuomintang has put on two completely opposite faces in this regard. On the one hand, it issued a statement to welcome Ma Ji to visit Taiwan and defend his behavior of undermining national sovereignty, claiming that it was a "normal communication behavior", and on the other hand, it accused the mainland military exercise of "taking advantage of the problem" and affecting peace in the Taiwan Strait.

This shows that the Kuomintang has also learned the DPP’s tricks to play with. While arguing the mainland wantonly, it is not willing to give up all the benefits brought by policies that benefit Taiwan.
It’s a pity that this contradictory approach is destined to be impossible to succeed. The Kuomintang will eventually hit a wall everywhere and is not a human inside or outside.
For the DPP, even if the KMT's position has moved closer to it, it is impossible to give up the attack, because the DPP cannot give up its power. The election battle on the island will begin soon, and the DPP will only increase its firepower to attack the KMT in the next step.
At the same time, the DPP is unwilling to give up its proposal to split the motherland. Unless the KMT completely stands on the side of the DPP, it will never be recognized by the other party. For the United States, no matter how the Kuomintang pleases the United States and accuses the mainland, it cannot change its positioning in the eyes of Americans.
The reason is very simple. What Americans want is to keep the two sides of the Taiwan Strait in a split state. The DPP has long seized the role of agents on the US island. It will be difficult for the KMT to compete again. Unless it is more shameless than the DPP in selling national interests, Americans will always give priority to supporting the DPP.
Therefore, the Kuomintang's choice puts itself in a both embarrassing and humble position in front of the United States.
The situation in the Taiwan Strait is in a period of rapid change. All relevant parties are adjusting their policies to deal with the current situation. The Kuomintang, which has rich experience in communicating with the mainland, could have used its own advantages to contribute to the great cause of reunification of the motherland.
