Recently, in order to boost the election of the DPP for the "nine-in-one" election on the island at the end of the year, and to assist the candidate for the Nantou County Mayor of the DPP, Tsai Ing-wen has personally run four itineraries in Nantou County, which also reflects that the election of the Green Camp in Nantou County is quite difficult. In addition to assisting in the election, Tsai Ing-wen mentioned the recent situation in the Taiwan Strait and did not forget to blame the mainland, claiming that she had been "suppressed" by the mainland. The outside world believes that this is Tsai Ing-wen’s re-employment of the “dried mango” strategy, trying to break through in the constituency with difficult election situations, but the effect is not necessarily ideal.

Nantou is the only inland county in Taiwan, so it is the backbone of the deployment of the Taiwan Army and has long been the basic foundation of the Kuomintang. In the 2022 "nine-in-one" election plan formulated by Tsai Ing-wen, winning Nantou is also one of the goals. To this end, Tsai Ing-wen issued a "construction check" and instructed the Central Office of the Taiwan Administrative Organization to track the revitalization progress of Zhongxing New Village in Nantou. This gave Cai Peihui the opportunity to perform, so Cai Peihui qualified to represent the Green Camp to compete for the Nantou County Magistrate at the end of the year.
Cai Peihui is Tsai Ing-wen's direct descendant. It is not surprising that Tsai Ing-wen personally came forward to stand up under the election layout. On the same day when Tsai Ing-wen rushed to Nantou, she arranged four itineraries in a row, from morning to night, and kept asking supporters to support Cai Peihui wherever she went. Due to the difficulty of the election, Tsai Ing-wen once again called on supporters to support the so-called "protecting the country and defending the country" Taiwan military in his speech, and called on voters to make "correct choices" by the end of the year. This sounds familiar, and it seems that I plan to adopt the "dried mango" strategy again.

In the "general election" of Taiwan in the previous two years, the DPP used green media and online military to sell the "dried mango" sentiment, which is the so-called "sense of national destruction". With the support of this effect, the DPP won the highest vote in history, even the number of votes won in Nantou County hit a record high. There was a successful precedent. Tsai Ing-wen specially raised the "pressure" from the other side in Nantou County's election, and her intention was self-evident.
is just this method may not be easy to use at the moment, because the "nine-in-one" elections will be held by Taiwan's county and city mayors and officials at all levels at the end of the year. The campaign strategy focuses more on local issues, and cross-strait relations are not the priority for voters in all counties and cities. Moreover, the DPP's competitors in Nantou have a more public opinion base, and Cai Peihui is facing the Kuomintang candidate Xu Shuhua .

Nantou County was obviously blue than green in the past in the voter structure. Xu Shuhua's political resume was relatively stable. He had experience as the mayor of Nantou and the councillor of Nantou County, and had a relatively high political reputation in Nantou. The strong rival is in front of him, which is one of the reasons why Tsai Ing-wen personally came forward to stand on the platform.
During Tsai Ing-wen's itinerary to assist in the election in Nantou, she also visited the "Army Armed Forces and Preparation Development Center" for inspection. At the scene, Tsai Ing-wen called herself proud of the "autonomous ability" of the Taiwan military. In the eyes of Tsai Ing-wen and others, the Taiwan military has some so-called "asymmetric combat" capabilities. For example, the "CM-32 Cloud Leopard Armored Vehicle" previously developed by the scientific research department of the Taiwan authorities was jointly completed by Taiwan's so-called " Chinese Academy of Sciences " and private enterprises on the island. This may be because Tsai Ing-wen is full of confidence and believes that this is a manifestation of the improvement of Taiwan’s military’s “independent capabilities”.

The Taiwan Army's active equipment does have some independent equipment, but compared with the overall equipment system of the Taiwan Army, it is simply not worth mentioning, and most of them are imported from the West. Take the mechanized unit of the Taiwan Army as an example. It looks quite large, with a wheeled vehicle of about 6,000. Except for the conventional military truck with a load of 3.5 tons, which is jointly produced by American and Taiwanese companies, other technical content, such as multi-functional inclined vehicles, nuclear and biochemical detection vehicles, communication command vehicles, reconnaissance motorcycles, tank transport vehicles, are all imported from the United States, Germany, and Japan.
includes the "Xiongfeng" series of missiles that the Taiwan authorities have been spoiling for without any effort. However, in fact, due to the endless failures and problems, the Taiwan military prefers American equipment. It will take at least half a century to fully develop and produce the Taiwan military equipment. Even if it is achieved, the huge performance gap between the weapons and equipment of the People's Liberation Army will be difficult to make up. The DPP authorities have used a lot of money to buy US military has caused great disgust among the people on the island. If they invest more large amounts of funds to stimulate self-development and production of weapons, I am afraid that the DPP authorities' fiscal balance will become a big problem. Therefore, Tsai Ing-wen and the DPP authorities' blind and confident attitude are more like a laughing stock.
