Traditional switches are mechanical principles, and it is easy to spark when pressed. Zhongshan Industrial and commercial student Lin Jicun accidentally discovered that calligraphy black ink has capacitive sensing characteristics. He completed carbon black paint in one year and applied a thin layer to control the signal. This research won the Wanghong Science Award Silver Award, known as the "High School Vocational Nobel Prize", and is the only private school student to win the award.

Lin Jicun once was purely fun. He used a three-meter to measure the calligraphy work of a classmate in the class. Capacitance sensing characteristics unexpectedly appeared. He deeply explored the conductivity of carbon black paint and found that the ratio of soot particles is the key to affect capacitance sensing. In order to master the concentration, temperature and humidity of the paint, it took him more than a year to try the best ratio.
Principal Lin Zhaoyi said that in the past, the mechanical principle of various electric lamps and electrical appliances was easily triggered to spark and it was inevitable to cause danger. Lin Jicun's paint was both safe and environmentally friendly. If it was successfully used to control capacitor signals in the future, a thin layer on electrical appliances or walls could be used as a switch, and it would be of quite a wide range of uses.
Instructor Yang Zhenze encouraged Lin Jicun to participate in the 17th Wanghong Science Award. This award is called the "Nobel Prize in High School Vocational Industry". In the past, it was mostly the first-choice public school winners. Zhongshan Industry and Commerce "dare not even thinking about it". This time, Lin Jicun practiced his favorite advertising slogan "It's not so good if you don't do it, it's even more different if you do it", and resolutely decided to participate.
He said that from research to experiments, it is common to encounter setbacks, and he often wants to give up. Fortunately, he gritted his teeth and ended up winning the silver medal and won a prize of 200,000 yuan. He was not only the first in school history to win the award, but also the only private school student to win this year. He and his instructor were both surprised and excited. (China Times)
