During the 2014 Changhua county magistrate election, DPP "legislator" Duan Yikang publicly accused the Kuomintang candidate Lin Cangmin of fraudulently receiving a subsidy of NT$5 million for the Hockey Association. When Wei Minggu, the candidate for the party-based county magistrate, even bet that if the allegations are false, he would swallow three hockey balls.
In November 2015, the investigative agency closed the case with "no illegal investigation". Duan Yikang published an article on social media saying, "I asked me to swallow hockey, Lin Cangmin treated me as a fool."
However, when interviewed by media, Duan Yikang said that he "will fulfill his promise" but it was just that "the judicial organs are unfair" and that "there is no specific timetable" to fulfill his promise.
On April 12, 2016, the Taipei District Court ruled that Duan Yikang and Wei Minggu should jointly compensate Lin Cangmin for his reputation damage and comforting compensation of NT$300,000 and report to apologize, and Duan Yikang should delete the relevant remarks.
On August 10, 2018, Duan Yikang and others were rejected and finally confirmed.
On December 9, Duan Yikang and Wei Minggu published a half-page apology notice in the Ran Times. Lin Cangmin said, "This is a belated justice" and called on politicians to have integrity, "You just swallow the hockey."
For four years, all walks of life have thought of many ways to eat for Duan Yikang.
After four years, the three parties involved in the incident, Lin Cangmin, successively lost the election of the county magistrate and "legislator", Wei Minggu failed to be re-election, and Duan Yikang was expected to be unemployed in 2020, and they all did a very miserable job.
