Zhong Nanshan: Regarding our team’s article on the clinical characteristics of 1,099 patients with COVID-19, this study was provided by a total of 552 hospitals in 30 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities across the country. The research team conducted a comprehensive analysis of the clinical characteristics of patients.

We calculate it based on the patient's time of contact with the source of infection and the time when the symptoms first appear, with the longest being 24 days. But in fact, there was only 1 patient who was actually described for 24 days, which means that there were only 1 out of 1,099 cases. The time reported by this only one patient is not scientific enough to use the longest incubation period of the disease, and there are precedents in other diseases, such as rabies. Our study shows that the median in the incubation period of all patients is 4 days. In addition, we will report the interquartile spacing in this article, which is 2 days and 7 days respectively (i.e., the gap is 5 days), which more scientifically reflects the overall situation of the population.
