Chongqing Forestry Bureau introduced that there are 112 national key protected terrestrial wild animals distributed in Chongqing, including 14 first-class, including black langurs, big spirit cats, small spirit cats, musk beetles, green-headed ducks, Chinese mergans, etc.; 98 second-class, including macaques, black bears, leopard cats, hairy deer, Chinese ereks, etc.
84 natural native national key protected wild plants managed by the forestry department are distributed in Chongqing, including 8 first-level species, including cliff cypress, silver fir, metasequoia, ginkgo, yew, etc.; 76 second-level species, including spikes, Qinling fir, ellipse, ellipse, sausage, nanmu, flower wood, etc.

Chongqing has updated the number of national key protected wild animals and plants distributed in the city, 48 species of national key protected terrestrial wild animals distributed. The green-headed dizzy duck has been upgraded from the "three-have" protection to the first level, the big spirit cat, small spirit cat, white-crowned long-tailed pheasant and other species have been upgraded from the national second level protection to the national first level, and the leopard cat, hairy deer, thrush, red-billed acacia bird and other species have been upgraded from the "three-have" protection to the national second level.
In addition, there are 35 species of natural native national key protected wild plants distributed in Chongqing, managed by the forestry department, and the cliff cypress distributed in Chongqing has been upgraded to a national first-class protected wild plant. This plant is endemic to China and was declared extinct by the World Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN).
Up to now, Chongqing has established 218 nature reserves at all levels and types (including 58 nature reserves, 10 wildlife protection types, and 8 wild plant protection types), accounting for 15.4% of the city's area, effectively protecting more than 90% of the city's rare and endangered wild animals and plants and more than 90% of the typical subtropical evergreen broadleaf forest ecosystem.
