Police launch rescue
Hualien County Mayor Xu Zhenwei pointed out that Liushishi Mountain has conditions such as sunken roads and falling soil and rocks on the mountain. The problems are more complicated and there are many aftershocks. It is expected that the obstacles will be removed early on the 19th and the hillside retaining wall will be reinforced to make Liushishishishan safer. After the accident, tourists have been allowed to stay in the B&B in Liushishishan, and the accommodation costs will be paid by the Hualien County Government.
Hualien County Mayor candidate Gulas Yodaka said that the situation in Sixty Stone Mountain is "serious than we imagined." Gulas Yodaka said on social media that due to the strong earthquake, the two roads outside the mountain were completely interrupted, and large stones were everywhere, which made it impossible for the people and tourists on the mountain to go down the mountain and were waiting for assistance. The police rescued the trapped people overnight and rescue activities will continue.

The rocks rolled down
It is understood that the police hiked from the rural road up the mountain to the Sixty Stone Mountain at night, searching for the trapped people along the way. The trapped people found included children and the elderly, and guided the people down the mountain from the rural road. At the same time, the search and rescue personnel found about 65 people waiting for vehicle rescue at the collapsed place at 9 kilometers to the Chikeshan Industrial Road. After evaluating the safety hazards, they had taken the people to the Chikeshan B&B to assist in the resettlement of passengers.
Sixty-Stone Mountain planted with Golden Needle Flower . From July to October every year, it is the Golden Needle flower season in Sixty-Stone Mountain, so it often attracts tourists from all over the world to come and visit. Gulas Yodaka also admitted that many tourists went to admire the Golden Needle Flower, but unfortunately they were trapped in the mountains, which many people did not expect.
