July 26th, it is reported that the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) requires American Airlines that carry Boeing 777 wide-body aircraft to inspect and repair the aircraft because this model of aircraft has the risk of fuel tank explosion. The FAA urges airlines to install Teflon sleeves/seals/gaskets on Boeing 777 aircraft and reinforce specific components of the main fuel tanks in the middle, left and right sides of the aircraft. They require airlines to perform repairs within up to 60 months.

It is reported that this inspection involves 282 aircraft of the same model across the United States, each aircraft will take about 90 hours to conduct inspection and repairs, and the related costs will reach US$14 million.

In response, Boeing responded that it was known that the FAA was drafting the documents and had issued guidance to airlines using the 777 passenger plane before that; it fully supported the FAA's suggestions.

In fact, as early as 2017, Boeing 777 aircraft had similar problems. At that time, the models involved included Boeing 777-200 model, 777-300 ER and other series. It is worth noting that the FAA document at that time showed: "Prevent fault currents or lightning strikes from causing internal arcs to occur in the main fuel tank and central fuel tank of the aircraft. If the arc encounters flammable aviation fuel gas, it may cause the fuel tank to explode, which will cause the aircraft to damage." It can be seen that until now, the old problems of the Boeing 777 aircraft have not been changed.
