June 7, CCTV News issued a statement saying that the European Parliament and European Council agreed on the 7th local time to uniformly use the Type-C interface in the EU for mobile device charging from the fall of 2024. This move is believed to be conducive to reducing electronic waste and makes it easier and more convenient for users to purchase mobile devices.
CCTV News stated that according to the relevant regulations announced by the European Parliament on the same day, starting from 2024, all electronic equipment manufacturers such as mobile phones, tablets, digital cameras and wireless headphones sold in the EU should unify the charging interface into Type-C, and manufacturers do not have to distribute charging equipment when selling these devices. According to statistics, this practice will save consumers 250 million euros expenses every year and reduce 11,000 tons of electronic waste.
