It is worth noting that Article 14 clearly states: Taiwanese compatriots can seek consular protection and assistance at the embassies and consulates of the People's Republic of China abroad and apply for travel documents. has no reason, just because our Taiwanese compatriots are also Chinese. In fact, over the years, in my actions to evacuate overseas personnel and safeguard the interests of overseas compatriots, I have never forgotten my compatriots in Taiwan.
When evacuating overseas Chinese in an emergency, I never forgot my compatriots in Taiwan
As early as 1990, our embassy and consulate abroad helped our compatriots escape from danger. That year, Iraq invaded Kuwait, and the Gulf War broke out. In order to avoid the Iraqi army, the Taiwanese business representatives in Kuwait evacuated first among the evacuation teams in South Korea, leaving more than 1,000 Taiwanese compatriots working in the local area. Out of helplessness, Taiwanese workers had to ask us for help. Our Embassy in Kuwait issued them travel documents from the People's Republic of China and arranged for them to take the museum's vehicles to evacuate the war zone. After arriving at , Jordanian , our embassy in Jordan made a guarantee for Taiwanese compatriots and assisted them in getting in touch with the Taipei Corporation, and finally returned to Taiwan successfully.
Similarly, when China evacuated its overseas Chinese from Libya in 2011 and from Yemen in 2015, the motherland also vigorously assisted local Taiwanese compatriots to evacuate the dangerous situation. At the press conference of the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council held on February 23, 2011, spokesman Yang Yi said that the situation in some areas of Libya has been tense recently, and we are also very concerned about it, but we are particularly concerned about the situation of our own compatriots in the local area and the safety of their lives and property. The Chinese government has begun to take action to evacuate its citizens from Libya. What I understand is that the Chinese Embassy in Libya has announced the relevant emergency contact information and telephone number. If Taiwanese compatriots have any needs, the local embassy will provide full assistance.

Outside still remember the Haiti earthquake on January 12, 2010, and 8 peacekeepers in Haiti were killed. After the earthquake, local Taiwanese compatriots found Wang Shuping, representative of the Chinese Trade Development Office in Haiti, saying that the "embassy" of the Taiwan authorities in Haiti collapsed and the so-called "ambassador" and "public counselors" were trapped. After asking for instructions, Wang Shuping sent personnel to rescue him. Wang Shuping said, "Although we just nodded when we meet each other frequently, we still have to lend a helping hand at critical moments. After all, they are all Chinese, and their blood is thicker than water."
On January 25, 2010, 48 Chinese compatriots returned to China on a chartered flight in China Eastern Airlines, including a Taiwanese compatriot. "We just helped every Chinese here who needed help," said Wang Shuping.
"If you think you are Chinese, you can follow the motherland"
In addition to providing emergency protection and assistance to Taiwanese compatriots during the turbulent situation, most of the time, our embassies and consulates abroad do some silent work. For example, help deal with civil and economic criminal cases involving Taiwan in the country, provide assistance to Taiwanese compatriots who have encountered natural disasters or other accidents abroad, and provide services such as travel documents, document credit certification, and searching for relatives and friends to Taiwanese compatriots living overseas.
Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council revealed that in August 2018, a Taiwanese young woman traveled in Kabul, Afghanistan and was deceived and left on the streets. After learning about the situation, our staff in Afghanistan provided timely assistance to him to ensure his safety and provide financial assistance to ensure that his young woman returns to Taiwan safely. For example, in October 2016, after a lot of work, Omani Taiwanese fishing boats, which were hijacked by Somali pirates for four years, were released, including 26 crew members, safely rescued, including Taiwanese compatriots.
This is worth mentioning, the evacuation of Taiwanese compatriots from Kansai Airport in Japan last year. In September 2018, affected by the typhoon "Flying Swallow", Osaka Kansai Airport in Japan was once closed, and many Chinese tourists were stranded at the airport. Afterwards, our local consulate arranged vehicles in a timely manner and evacuated Chinese passengers from the airport in six batches, including 32 Taiwanese compatriots.
@Taiwanese compatriots Please remember these four ways to ask for help
At the press conference of the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, the spokesperson once introduced four ways to ask for help from overseas Taiwanese compatriots. Including you can call the 12308 hotline as soon as possible; you can directly call the consular protection telephone number and ID consultation number of the embassies and consulates abroad; you can download and use the " Ministry of Foreign Affairs 12308" mobile client; you can obtain consular protection and assistance information provided by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the embassies and consulates abroad through the "Consular Express" WeChat official account as soon as possible.
"We have always attached great importance to and safeguarded the legitimate rights and interests of our overseas Taiwanese compatriots and solved their problems in times of crisis." A spokesperson for the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council said that because our Taiwanese compatriots are our flesh and blood brothers.
