There are 28 air defense radar stations across Japan. The mission of the mobile alert troops is to equip mobile radars and patrol the radar station's surveillance gap area. In the future, the Self-Defense Force plans to set up fixed radars here to improve the surveillance system.
So far, the Ogasawara Islands and other Japanese islands located in the southeast of the Pacific have not been equipped with air defense radars, nor have they formed a normalized surveillance system.
