Xiangxi Battle, also known as "Xuefengshan Battle ", was the last battle in the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression. On May 1, 1945, the 5th Division of the 94th Army of the National Revolutionary Army launched an attack on the Japanese army in Ma'anshan, Wuyang, and the battle began. 20 days later, our side won the victory and wiped out the 115th Battalion of the 58th Brigade of the enemy. The captain Ogasawara escaped to Paulownia and was shot dead. Two-thirds of the 117th brigade was killed, killing more than 1,500 enemies in total. At that time, Chinese Minister of Defense and Commander-in-Chief of the Army, He Yingqin praised the "precursor to the victory of the Battle of Xiangxi in Wuyang".
To commemorate the anti-Japanese soldiers who died in the Battle of Wuyang, Suining County built a war of resistance to war at the foot of Ma'anshan. The Anti-Japanese War Memorial Park consists of the memorial, memorial pavilion, observation deck, cultural wall, walking trail and green belt of the Great Victory in the Western Xiangxi Battle. It covers an area of 10 acres and integrates tourism, leisure and sightseeing, mourning, and patriotic education.
On the morning of that day, cadres of the county civil affairs bureau first came to the Anti-Japanese War Memorial Park to clean, remove weeds, and wipe the inscriptions. Subsequently, they and some local people carried out a series of activities to pay homage to the martyrs, such as offering flower baskets, bowing and observing silence, and visiting inscriptions. Accompanied by his family, Xiao Shixi, a retired cadre in Li Xiqiao Town, made a special trip to Ma'anshan Anti-Japanese War Memorial Park to pay homage to the monument, commemorate the martyrs of the War of Resistance, and recall the tragic battle he had experienced 73 years ago.
