Vice President and CTO of UFIDA Network Long Geng

Long Geng, who served as CTO of China Southern Airlines and Changan Automobile, has served as Vice President and CTO of UFIDA Network. Long Geng has 17 years of experience in enterprise informatization , and has a very deep understanding of corporate information. This time, Long Geng will join UFIDA Network, leverage his advantages in enterprise informatization , improve the targeted nature of UFIDA network products and solutions, and help enterprises transform to the Internet.

Enterprise Internet is a model that creates more value for users based on traditional business and adds some elements, thinking and tools of the Internet. It can be implemented from two aspects: externally, many intermediate links need to be removed to directly provide value to users (these users and the outside world can directly see and feel it. We call it the face project of corporate Internet transformation), and internally, in order to create value for users, flatten the organization (although these users cannot directly see and feel it, it has far-reaching significance for corporate transformation. We call it the inner project of corporate Internet transformation), so that the entire company can improve efficiency and provide value to users.

Practice in China Southern Airlines and Changan

Enterprise Internet can help enterprises achieve innovative breakthroughs in two aspects. First, gradual innovation, turning the original business into more efficient and higher-value services and marketing through the Internet's thinking and tools; second, disruptive innovation, which originally did not pay attention to, produces huge new business value in the Internet era. Enterprise Internetization can make breakthroughs from these two aspects.

My innovative highlights at China Southern Airlines can be summarized in four ways: one is mobile and the other is social, which shortens the distance between connections with external users. In the past, China Southern Airlines had to check-in users to the airport, but now they don’t have to queue up at the airport through mobile. In the past, the flight attendant used to take a note to collect customer information for customers, but now they can directly understand customers through mobile. Socialization is to establish a community, and sharing through WeChat can cause rapid dissemination and promotion of China Southern Airlines’ new business, allowing more people to understand, greatly shortening the process of the original users’ acquisition of information. In addition, we call the transformation of internal operations of enterprises platform and open source. In fact, these two things are paving the way for the enterprise Internet to be more efficient. Enterprises used to be tree-like structures and have very low efficiency. By building some platforms and using open source technology, enterprises can gradually speak on one platform, build an Internet within the enterprise, and improve the efficiency of corporate collaboration. For example, in the past, every department of China Southern Airlines, such as high-end service managers, webmasters, pilots, and flight attendants, used walkie-talkies to coordinate. Now, with the mobile Internet platform, starting from the descent of the plane, refueling and water, and even when the passenger arrives at the airport, starting from his service in the high-end lounge, to when there is no Wi-Fi and signal in the cabin, we have related mobile terminals, and a SCC (service control center) in the backend, which can coordinate and adjust individual services and provide seamless services to enterprises.

I have also come to Changan Automobile in the past year around these four highlights. First of all, we are mobile. We use mobile Internet to change the original marketing and service models of Changan Automobile. Later, we also built Internet of Vehicles and e-commerce. Through , vehicle networking , cars, people and mobile phones can be connected together in the near future. Accessories and post-services can be combined with the Internet of Vehicles platform to provide users with better services. E-commerce can also allow Changan cars to be sold on them. To be socialized, we have built a WeChat enterprise account in Chang'an and established a new media service center. Let users and our maintenance personnel and sales personnel communicate with each other. In addition to these, we have also used some open source and mobile technologies to accelerate transformation. Changan Automobile's innovation is also focused on these four highlights: mobility, socialization, platformization and open source.

The detours that I have taken

I have collaborated with everyone in traditional enterprises. I actually took a lot of detours. I worked for five years at China Southern Airlines, and I was almost done in Chang'an for eight months, because I took a detour.

The biggest obstacle to enterprise Internet transformation is that enterprise Internet thinking does not have it. In fact, it is difficult to transform one person's thinking, and it is even more difficult to transform the entire enterprise Internet thinking . In the past, I thought that if I did it well, I could play a demonstration role. In fact, it was not the case that the company was particularly crowded, and people would even think that you had infringed on their interests.

Transformation first requires finding someone, changes the thinking of the company, especially the thinking of the leadership. I learned this lesson when I went to Chang'an. First of all, I didn't go directly to work, but gave internal speeches, and gave a lot of Internet thinking speeches to the leadership. The purpose of these is to brainwash everyone. To put it simply, let everyone know what Internet thinking is, what obstacles may be encountered in the implementation, or what methods can be used to achieve it. Based on every feedback from everyone, I will optimize my thinking system and tell these things to our leadership through some practical cases and some pain points we encounter. After I finished speaking, the leader recognized it very much, so I could follow the trend and make some plans. For example, what I want to do in your company, how many people I want, and how much money I want. The leader often agrees at this time, and it is particularly good to carry out the work for you later.

In addition, it is also necessary for you to cooperate with horizontal departments . Because you do IT well, at most you can say that your IT drives business transformation, that is, IT can only create value for you by combining business, so you also need to communicate more with the business department, especially to come up with your real solutions that can be implemented for the business department. For example, when I went to Chang'an, many business departments had already done something. If you wanted to take it over, there would be conflicts of interests, but we did not do so. Because when I talk to my leaders, they feel good and they will ask me to go to the department to speak. This is a very good start. At the same time, once we find a chance, we quickly turn this thinking into a product. For example, the day before, I found an opportunity to help it create an APP prototype through PTT that afternoon or evening to show it. Our first project in Changan was to create a prototype for commercial vehicles. The first feeling they saw was that it made us shine. Then we decided to replace the next version of the APP we made in the past with you. After passing points one by one, it will be easier to make a breakthrough when you make a breakthrough. Later, you don’t have to look for opportunities, and more people will come to you.

Why did I choose to come to UFIDA

Actually, I started a business before China Southern Airlines and Changan, and I made things similar to UFIDA’s things. Before that, I had been doing the Internet for 3-4 years (1999 to 2003). When I came to UFIDA, what I did was the same thing I always wanted to do - creating value for the company through IT. Why did you choose to come to UFIDA? I think UFIDA spent so much resources in the past to invest a lot of technology, platforms and tools to help enterprise informatization . In recent years, it has made great efforts to transform the Internet. In the past, I have experienced a lot in China Southern Airlines and Changan and invested a lot, but this area does not see much value for traditional enterprises. When I came to UFIDA, I was more likely to drive the integration of some of UFIDA's original resources from the perspective of a user to provide better services to enterprises, and at the same time shorten the time investment of enterprises in Internet transformation.

About CTO Long Geng’s self-portrait

Graduation message written by my college classmate: Long Geng is a technical maniac. For technology, he can not eat or drink for three days and three nights.

My family’s comments on me: Long Geng is a family-loving person, and his focus is not only on technology.

Some friends who have worked with me think: Long Geng is a professional person and is particularly willing to study and research for work.

Peking University CIO class: In private, Long Geng is a very fun and playful classmate, and he has been working tirelessly for self-improvement and technology.

My self-portrait of myself: In the past, I was a very technical person, and the thinking I used was all about technical thinking. Now I have a lot of experience in technology, product and management. This is because I especially like challenges and set a lot of goals throughout my career. I am not afraid of having many goals, and the more difficult I will be, the more excited I will be. My motivation all comes from every stage I have to achieve a goal. Every time I reach a goal, I will be particularly excited and then set a new goal.

I have an ideal, I want to build a platform that allows business personnel to develop beautiful and pleasant APPs and applications. I hope that business personnel will have ideas in the future. Through this platform, it will be like holding a beautiful APP template and filling in the things, and an APP will be released immediately. technology has always been a major factor hindering corporate innovation and transformation. I believe this platform will greatly reduce investment and technology uncontrollable for many companies.
