For Chen Bolin, [Goodbye, never see you], it can be regarded as the most advanced performance challenge since his debut. There are no many lines, and most of them are intuitively presenting the anxious state of characters and past liquidation.
He needs to perform the differences in the characters. Each time he switches the role, he only needs to remove the possible repeated performances or emotions, and control the rhythm, emotions, and eyes to varying degrees.
He also needs to continue the performance characters, because between the beginning, ending, turning and ending of the three stories, a man's growth process is vaguely presented. From a newbie in her twenties who is busy with work, to a young father who has just had a child in her thirties, to a more mature university professor who has divorced in her thirties. They are not alone, but in a sense they can be regarded as one person.
The big boy who was once always energetic, sunny and optimistic on the screen was always surrounded by a suppressed and forbearing mood, and had no words.

Back view·Father and son
Manager Chen (played by Chen Bolin) came to Nanning's freight terminal from Foshan to inspect the project. He met an old employee (played by Qin Pei), who was not very good at his legs and feet, very much like his father who had not heard from for many years. So he quietly followed him every day, trying to confirm his identity, and was eager to find out the answers he abandoned his family back then.
■What is the mood of Manager Chen suddenly facing his father who has been missing for many years?
□Chen Bolin: My father is like a very familiar and stranger to him. The familiar part may be when he was in his childhood. The strange part is that he doesn’t know whether his father is doing well in the past few years, or even whether his father is still alive. The folded family photo in the
wallet actually represents an existing question mark. He knew that this question existed, but he kept it in his heart until he accidentally met his father and involved more question marks hidden behind it.
, on the one hand, was caused by curiosity, and on the other hand, although he didn't want to face it, he couldn't help but feel at a loss. He decided to follow his father and see how he is doing now.
There is a scene where father and son have a conversation in the restaurant, and he can't release too much, and then hide it, constantly hiding it, but he also expects that maybe his father will find something, and there will be a little temptation in language, and the emotions in the whole process are very depressing.
▲This paragraph was called [Stalking] before. He followed his father without clear intentions. Maybe he just asked for an answer.
■The scene of beating his younger brother was like an vent. How do you understand?
□Chen Bolin: I think this behavior is a kind of jealousy. You can't get it, but you don't cherish it. There is also the feeling of hating your father and then sympathizing with him.
So the starting point of this behavior is very complicated. We filmed that scene for two days. The entry point of eyes and emotions should be grasped very accurately, otherwise it will become funny.
■ Is Manager Chen’s cruel reaction to his girlfriend’s pregnancy related to psychological trauma?
□ Chen Bolin: It may have been rather unintentional at the beginning, for example, the current state may not be suitable. After things unfold closely, he may feel that his father was cruel and irresponsible for some of his childhood decisions. But unexpectedly, he not only repeated the same mistakes, but also did more excessive things.
So he could not forgive his father. The beating of his younger brother cut off his connection with his father, and he couldn't forgive himself. The abortion cut off his connection with his unborn child, and he was in a very collapsed state.
▲In the end, all the superficial problems seemed to be solved, but the problems in their hearts were still there
Lakeside·Friendly Friend
A letter sent from the prison broke Chen Deming's peaceful life (played by Chen Bolin). His whereabouts were unknown, Lin Renzheng (played by Yang Youning) was waiting for the death penalty in Singapore prison. The summer when the two of them often went to the lake to swim in their youth, and the other party's farewell after their father had an accident, all of them came to their hearts. The matter that had not been asked clearly was finally answered.
■Chen Deming suddenly received a letter from Lin Renzheng from prison. How do you understand the character’s mood at that time?
□Chen Bolin: I think the separation from the two young people was a kind of escape, causing a knot and a huge question mark between them. So when he received the letter, he felt very complicated, and he felt that the day facing this huge question mark finally came. The question mark of
contains many points, such as why the father drowning happened, or what the relationship between the two of us is, and the third point is whether you are doing well now. There are a lot of things hidden in
, and you can't list them very well in an orderly manner. That is the whole thing intertwined, and the whole emotion is more complicated than [back], and what kind of emotion comes out first is what kind of problem comes out first.
▲The long security check puts the characters' nervousness and even entanglement to the maximum
■The scene of visiting the prison and passing the security check was deliberately extended. Isn't the shooting experience very special?
□Chen Bolin: Indeed, for the character, you are going to meet a friend who has not seen for a long time, and he is sentenced to death. During that process, the emotions and pictures of the past and present are definitely constantly intertwined, and they will continue to speculate on what will happen.
Corridor and security check process are like time and space shuttle, constantly pulling between the present time and space and the past time and space. That period is definitely the longest. If you actually shoot
, there are quite a lot of shots. That state is to give different things. The characters are mechanical, but they are not in the state. They are thinking about other things. The process instead alleviates the surprise caused by the unexpected events in the early years.
■What is the difference between two visits to prison?
□Chen Bolin: The first time is to suppress it, and you may not be able to bear such things. When you are really face-to-face, it seems that time has subsided. Then you will no longer think about what happened before. You will see how much his appearance has changed, and then ask, "Hey, are you doing well?"
But that reason is time-efficient. After digesting the rationality, the sentiment will come out, and the motivation for finding problems will be more obvious. So when I meet again, I really want to say something to him.
In fact, in the play, the original setting we met for the second time was that emotions would be more expressed. In that scene, Yang Youning and I both cried bitterly until the end of the filming.
is just the director who did not use that version in the end, and used it more depressingly. Maybe he wanted Chen Deming to have a digestive process. It was not that his emotional collapse suddenly changed, but that this matter would remain in his heart forever. Maybe after going back one afternoon, he thought about it and fell into that pain again.
▲Lin Renzheng avoided seeing each other before, and waiting for goodbye is also a farewell to
Goodbye·First Love
Chen Zhibin (played by Chen Bolin) went to a university in Bangkok from Beijing to attend an exchange lecture. Ping Ping (played by Xiaocha), a Chinese student in charge of the reception work, soon fell in love with this high-looking, mature and funny professor. Chen Zhibin also came with questions during this trip. He visited the professor Xie Hong (played by Jiang Wenli), who was in charge of the university, and once again opened the taboo love left in Beijing many years ago.
■[Goodbye] There are also shots of you looking out the window in the hotel in the same two sections as in the previous two sections. Why is there such a design?
□Chen Bolin: In fact, when people are alone, they are not alone, they are living with another person living in their hearts and with their past self.
These shots in the movie may be in this state. The floor-to-ceiling windows show your own shadow. You will see yourself and others, including the strange city outside the window.
■The relationship between Chen Zhibin and Ping, Xie Hong and Chen Zhibin echoes. What is it like to be at the center of the two teacher-student love?
□Chen Bolin: Two relationships are linked one by one, this is a cycle of reincarnation. Experience means not repeating the same mistakes, not making mistakes again and again.
But that mistake may not be wrong, it is more like a decision. When this story begins, Chen Zhibin is already a professor, an adult, and finally catch up with the footsteps of the teacher he liked before.
But have you really chased? have no idea. He was constantly patient. Adults dealing with emotions are like patience and hiding, and everyone could not help but chase their hearts. He eventually wanted to ask a long-term question, "Why did you leave?" This is him finding an answer for the past.
▲Now he has a matching maturity and social identity with her, and then the time is wrong, and they can no longer go back to
■There is a scene when Xie Hong uses the bathroom, and Chen Zhibin looks at her shadow through the glass. What kind of emotion is this?
□Chen Bolin: He is admiring a familiar figure and appreciating the sweet memories of the two of them in the past. It is an appreciation of going back to the past. When Xie Hong opened the door, he knew that he had to face a current relationship and choice.
I like a line here very much, he said, "You haven't changed at all." Sometimes, if you really understand a person well, external changes are not very important. Just like many of my friends and work partners now, I don’t think they will change. It is a very important portrayal of the emotional connection between the two parties, or the depth of their cognition.
