(Morning News) Although the time has not yet come, people who are vaccinated with Sinovac and Sinopharm's coronavirus vaccine in Singapore may also need to receive additional agents next.
Health Minister Wang Yikang responded to the inquiry from Yang Chugang District Councillor Ye Hanrong this morning (October 4), saying that as of yesterday, among the serious adverse reactions after receiving the messenger vaccine, more than 1,900 public have gone to public hospitals for the first dose of Sinovac vaccine, and about 1,300 have completed two doses of Sinovac vaccine.
In addition, about 550,000 elderly people have been invited to receive additives. According to the Ministry of Health’s statement last night, nearly 280,000 people have finished their prescriptions, and another 90,000 have made an appointment for vaccination.
Wang Yikang also revealed that when the time is ripe, the Ministry of Health will invite publics who have received Sinovac or Sinopharm vaccines and meet the conditions to receive the Pfizer /Fobitai and Moderna vaccines with messenger ribonucleic acid (mRNA) as an additive.
But he also pointed out: "However, most of them have not yet reached the time to get the additives."
As for whether they will explore using other vaccines as additives, Wang Yikang said that the Ministry of Health's COVID-19 vaccine expert group is still studying hybrid vaccination strategies and will evaluate whether non-mRNA vaccines can be provided to the public who have previously received mRNA vaccines as additives.
