Recently, the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Industry and Information Technology announced the "2021 Big Data Industry Development Pilot Demonstration Project List". Advantech Kunshan Smart Factory, with "data-driven" as the core, takes automation and labor-saving, visualization, data collaboration, and intelligence, reasonably realizes the transformation and upgrading of the factory, and is successfully selected as a demonstration project.
Advantech Technology has two manufacturing centers: Kunshan and Taipei. Among them, the Kunshan Manufacturing Center Park has four factory areas: board, chassis, system assembly and rapid customization production. It is one of the most important manufacturing bases in Advantech's global layout. We invested in the factory early on in Industry 4.0 transformation and established an advanced manufacturing center to conduct intelligent upgrade evaluation and promotion for different application scenarios and technologies within the factory.
"Data promotion" is the core driving force for us to move towards smart factories. At present, the Kunshan factory has achieved refined operations, with employees reduced by 2.2%, and production capacity increased by 3 times. Because it has been recognized by industry experts, in addition to being selected as the "Big Data Industry Development Pilot Demonstration Project", it has also been listed on the "Best Application Practice of Smart Manufacturing in China" and "Benchmark Smart Factory in China".

Kunshan factory's intelligent upgrade path is roughly divided into 4 steps:
- realizes production automation and labor-saving: uses machine vision , robots, and automatic handling vans (AGVs) to reduce dependence on manpower and achieve fine production.
- Improve device networking and data collection: uses Internet of Things technology and sensors to collect and transmit all production-related data in real time, such as the equipment status, production process, production environment, etc., and no longer requires human resources to record it.
- ERP, MES integration application and visualization: integrates machine and production information through MES manufacturing (Manufacturing Execution System) production execution system integrates applications, displays real-time factory production status, and conducts information analysis and visual presentation in real time to optimize the production process.
- Big data analysis and prevention and maintenance: transmits information to the cloud in real time for big data analysis. These data can predict the possibility of preparation of factory goods and materials, and even closer cooperation with upstream and downstream manufacturers. This can improve productivity, optimize purchase and inventory management, and reduce maintenance costs.
