Feel the "smoke of the battlefield" in Korla

■People's Liberation Army Daily reporter Qian Xiaohu Li Haoran Cheng Anqi

The vast Gobi Desert, iron armor gallops; yellow sand is rolling, and the sound of cannons shook the sky.

"The Chinese team crossed the finish line!" Under the gaze and cheers of the audience, the Chinese participating team's chariot successfully completed the first round of the "Suvorov Assault" infantry chariot team and parked steadily in the designated area. Afterwards, three lieutenant Fucheng, the sergeant Liu Zheng, and the second-level driver sergeant Huang Shanyong climbed onto the roof of the car and spread the bright five-star red flag to greet the audience.

"The whole game is like a battle." The leader of the Army's competition group told reporters that there is no fixed battlefield, and there is no fixed battlefield at the same time. In this competition, the rules are closer to actual combat, and the venue is closer to actual combat... The "content" of the competition has been further increased.

On the 4.3-kilometer-long "Suvorov Assault" round closed track, the "smell smoke" is everywhere: the participating team needs to pass 12 obstacles such as wading grounds, earth ridges, anti-tank trenches, rolling slopes, and cliffs, and complete 3 rounds of shooting in 2 shooting positions. This requires the participating team to have extremely high maneuvering obstacle crossing, rapid shooting, and command and communication skills, which tests the participating team members' tactical qualities in keen observation, high-speed maneuvering, and rapid strikes.

"The targets that are fired today are mostly close to the limit of the weapon's range." For the cannon leader Liu Zheng, this extreme shooting is a great test for personal skills, psychological quality, and equipment performance. From the competition preparation stage, he and his comrades carefully carried out weapon maintenance, adjustment and other work, and were meticulous in every link. In the

competition, the Chinese participating team chariot flying a green signal flag rushed into the track with a beautiful start, crossed the obstacle section, and quickly reached the best shooting position. Liu Zheng took a deep breath and quickly adjusted the direction of the muzzle. With the huge sound, the flames ejected out, and the target was instantly destroyed.

For driver Huang Shanyong, the "smell smoke" on the field comes from the control of the ultimate speed of the tank. After the shooting was completed, Huang Shanyong drove the chariot quickly out of the shooting position and galloped towards the wading field. Along the way, the chariots continued to accelerate, almost reaching the speed limit. The infantry fighting chariot rushed into the wading field. Facing the oncoming water waves, Huang Shanyong did not slow down at all and advanced towards the minefield path at full speed...

"This event focuses more on actual combat, which is a great challenge to the comprehensive performance of the vehicle and the coordination ability of the crew. Only by practicing simple movements to the extreme and forming muscle memory can we achieve the perfect combination of people and chariots, people and guns, and people and tracks." Hu Jun, a coach of the Chinese participating team, said, "The real battlefield changes rapidly. Only by constantly challenging the limits and practicing to strengthen the skills can the weapons and equipment in our hands become a weapon to win on the battlefield."

"Sprint! Sprint!" Amid the huge cheers, the infantry fighting chariots rushed through the section of smoke, rolling up sandstorms. Looking back at his performance in the field today through the video, the captain Fucheng felt deeply: "It is more meaningful to temper practical hard skills in the field with the smell of gunpowder".
