Taiwan's county and city elections at the end of the year, the Chiayi County Party Committee of the DPP has completed the nomination of township mayors and county councillors. Under the leadership of Chiayi County Mayor Weng Zhangliang, who is striving for re-election, the green camp has settled in the battle position. As for the Kuomintang's election layout, Weng Chongjun, the "legislator" who took over as the chairman of the county party committee on June 1, revealed that there is a candidate for county magistrate "still talking about", and it is unknown whether it can be formed.
Chiayi County has been regarded as a difficult constituency of the Kuomintang for many years. The election will be held at the end of the year. Not only the most critical "hen" county mayor candidates are suspended, but only the third, fourth and fifth constituencies of county councilors have been recruited. The 18 township mayor nomination work except Dongshi Township and Puzi City have announced that it will not be recruited to run for election, no one in other townships and cities have qualified, which has greatly shocked grassroots supporters.
Since the chairman of the Kuomintang’s Chiayi County Party Committee has been in vain for 1 or 2 years, it has been replaced by Cai Xian, chairman of the Chiayi Municipal Party Committee for a long time. The Party Department recently issued an announcement stating that in response to the needs of auxiliary election work, Weng Chongjun took over the leadership of the county party committee. Because the chairman of the Party Committee was on the verge of being elected as a county magistrate, Weng Chongjun, who had been elected as a county magistrate of Chiayi three times, received the chairman at this time, and speculated that the personnel arrangements of the Central Party Committee of the Kuomintang were considered for elections.
Weng Chongjun explained that Cai clearly reported to the Kuomintang Central Committee that his election was busy and hoped to be responsible for the auxiliary election work of the municipal party committee, so that he would take over as the chairman of the party committee and be responsible for the auxiliary election tasks. In fact, after he finished the county magistrate election in 2014, he stated that he would not elect the county magistrate again. As for the end of the year, the Kuomintang did not rule out cooperation with other "opposition" people. Although the candidates for county magistrates are difficult to find, they still continue to solicit their wishes. Some even need to discuss the Kuomintang Central Committee. It is not convenient to disclose the list before the result is achieved.
Kuomintang Chiayi County Party Committee recently stated that in order to promote unity and in response to the political environment of Chiayi County, it will not announce the nomination of township mayors this year, and instead recruit candidates will be recruited. The nomination qualification review committee will coordinate and recruit suggestions on the relevant election situations of each constituency. Weng Chongjun also said that based on the consideration of victory, township mayor candidates will cooperate with party and friends, and basically the Party will not nominate again.
