Taiwan Epidemic Command Center today announced the latest epidemic profile, with 22,650 new cases in the local area, 259 imported cases and 44 deaths. Spokesperson Zhuang Renxiang said that the number of cases today is almost the same as last Thursday, but 0.3% lower than last week.
Command Center said that today's 22,650 new local cases were 10,296 males, 12,343 females, and 11 cases were under investigation; ages between the ages of under 5 and over 90 years old; cases were New Taipei City (4,377 cases), Taichung City (2,808 cases), Taoyuan City (2,604 cases), Taipei City (2,579 cases), Kaohsiung City (1,996 cases), Tainan City (1,594 cases), Changhua County (944 cases), Miao Li County (690 cases), Hsinchu County (678 cases), Pingtung County (598 cases), Yunlin County (572 cases), Hsinchu City (530 cases), Yilan County (464 cases), Nantou County (394 cases), Hualien County (380 cases), Chiayi County (358 cases), Keelung City (342 cases), Chiayi City (245 cases), Taitung County (184 cases), Kinmen County (171 cases), Penghu County (129 cases), and Mazu (13 cases).
As also reported, 44 new local deaths today, including 26 males and 18 females, between the ages of under 5 to over 90s, all of which are severe infections, 41 have a history of chronic diseases, and 34 have not received 3 doses of new crown vaccine . The date of diagnosis is between June 10 and August 8, and the date of death is between May 25 and August 8. Luo Yijun, deputy head of the medical response group of the
command center, said that the newly-deceased 3-year-old boy who had congenital neurological diseases today, started to have a fever on July 31. After fast screening, he took medicine at home after taking video. However, on August 5, he was sent to the emergency room due to continuous fever, difficulty breathing, and pale complexion. Computer tomography showed swelling of the brain. After blood test, multiple organ abnormalities and metabolic acidosis were found. It was suspected that it was encephalitis . Therefore, he was admitted to the ICU and was intubated to use a respirator. During this period, he was given 4 drugs, including remdesivir, immunoglobulin , brain pressure-lowering drugs, and immunomodulatory agents. Unfortunately, the condition continued to worsen and died on August 6.
In addition, among the 259 new imported cases today, 129 males and 130 females; the age is between 5 and 80 years old, and the entry date is between July 13 and August 10 this year. (Xue Yang/Edited)
