The prices of the two models are 150,000 US dollars and 180,000 US dollars respectively, but they only cost 20,000 US dollars. However, according to the current situation where Tesla prioritizes the production resources of new cars to Model Y and then Cybertruck, the relatively low-key Semi Truck should have to wait at least until next year to have the opportunity to mass production and deliver the car.
As for performance performance, Tesla has only revealed that the Semi Truck is driven by four independent electric motors installed on the rear axle. When the empty car has only the front, the acceleration from 0 to 96km/h can only be completed in 5 seconds. Even when the whole car is full of 36 tons, it only takes 20 seconds to accelerate to 96km/h. Compared with the 15 seconds and 60 seconds required for the traditional trailer head, the performance can be said to be quite excellent.
In addition, some time ago, it was mentioned that Semi Truck has two models with different mileage settings. Tesla said that the electricity consumption per mile is less than two kWh (2kWh), which can help the owner save $200,000 in fuel costs. Although the official website does not mention the time unit of fuel expenses, it seems that the maintenance cost should be much lower than that of fuel trucks. There were rumors that Tesla would configure the Semi Truck with an 800V power system to achieve higher fast charging power, but the relevant information has not been confirmed by the original manufacturer.
In addition to saving considerable fuel costs and bringing better performance through pure electric driving, Tesla also equipped the Semi Truck with the Auto Pilot driving assistance system. At the same time, the lower center of gravity and cockpit position design can also improve driving safety. However, although the specifications look eye-catching, whether the Semi Truck can bring electric innovation to the truck market like a passenger car after mass production still needs time to verify. After all, such endurance cannot meet the current freight market.
