Since 2009, he has assisted Tsinghua University in reconstructing the discipline of Earth Systems Science, and in 2016 he became the founding department chair of the Department of Earth Systems Science at Tsinghua University. He teaches doctoral students and postdoctoral students, and more than 30 major universities in the United States and China currently hold academic positions in major universities including the University of California, Berkeley, the University of California, Los Angeles, the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and Tsinghua University.
Gong Peng's only winner of the of the American Geographical Society's Distinguished Contribution Award in 2008 (the society's highest remote sensing award - one of the major remote sensing awards in the United States), and the 1994 American Society of Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing Talbot Abraham Award (the society's highest scientific award - one of the major remote sensing awards in the United States).
Introduction to Ding Kuiling
Ding Kuiling , male, Han nationality, born in March 1966, from Yongcheng, Henan Province, Ph.D., professor. He joined the Communist Party of China in May 1986 and started working in October 1990. Currently, he is a member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee of Shanghai Jiaotong University and Executive Vice President of , a member of the 13th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, and an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
Comrade Ding Kuiling studied in the Department of Chemistry of Zhengzhou University from September 1981 to July 1985 and obtained a bachelor's degree. From September 1985 to July 1987, he studied in the Department of Chemistry of Zhengzhou University and obtained a master's degree. From September 1987 to October 1990, he studied in the Organic Chemistry Department of Nanjing University, and obtained a Ph.D. from October 1990 to December 1998, he taught in the Department of Chemistry at Zhengzhou University. He served as a lecturer and associate professor. He was promoted to professor in 1995. During this period, he worked as a postdoctoral fellow at Ryugao University in Japan from September 1993 to September 1994, and was a visiting scholar at Tokyo University of Technology from October 1997 to October 1998. From December 1998 to May 2009, he served as a researcher, chairman of the trade union, deputy secretary of the Party Committee, secretary of the Discipline Inspection Commission, and deputy director at the Shanghai Institute of Organic Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences. From August 2003 to November 2003, he served as a visiting professor at the Center for Material Science Research of Nagoya University, Japan. From May 2009 to September 2018, he served as director of the Shanghai Institute of Organic Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences. Since September 2018, he has served as member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Executive Vice President of Shanghai Jiaotong University.
Comrade Ding Kuiling is mainly engaged in asymmetric reactions and green chemistry research based on organometallic catalysis. He proposed and successfully practiced new concepts and new methods of chiral catalyst design, and developed new chiral ligands and catalysts with distinctive frameworks. He served as editorial board member and consultant editorial board member in more than a dozen internationally renowned chemical journals, including Angew. Chem. Int. Ed., Acc. Chem. Res. He served as the Advisory Committee of the Journal of Chemistry, Org. Lett., Editor-in-Chief of Organic Chemistry, Chem. Eur. J., and served as the Advisory Committee of the IUPAC-oriented IUPAC-oriented Organic Synthesis Metal Organic Chemistry International Conference (OMCOS) and the International Conference on Metal Organic and Catalysis (OM & Cat). He has successively won the second prize of the National Natural Science Award, the first prize of the Shanghai Natural Science Award, the Peony Award of the Shanghai Natural Science Award, the Shanghai Science and Technology Elite, Eli Lilly Scientific Excellence Award in Chemistry, the 6th Huang Yaozeng Metal Organic Chemistry Award of the Chinese Chemistry Association and the Chiral Chemistry Award of the First Japan International Organic Chemistry Foundation (IOCF) Yoshida Prize and the German Humboldt Research Award, the Shanghai Excellent Institute Director Award, Shanghai Outstanding Communist Party Member, National Outstanding Scientific Worker and other awards and honorary titles. From September 2001 to January 2002, he went to the Shanghai Municipal Party School for further study as a trainee of young and middle-aged cadres, and from February 2017 to July 2017, he went to the Central Party School for further study as a trainee of young and middle-aged cadres. He has served as the vice president and dean of the academy of , Shanghai University of Science and Technology, and also serves as the vice chairman of the Shanghai Society of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Vice Chairman of the Chinese Association for Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Vice Chairman of the Shanghai Association for Science and Technology, Chairman of the Xuhui District Association for Science and Technology, Chairman of the Shanghai Association for Science and Technology, Chairman of the Shanghai Association for Science and Technology, and Chairman of the Shanghai Association for Science and Technology.
