Sichuan Province Aba Wenchuan Emergency Management Bureau announced the news on the afternoon of the 22nd, announcing the list of victims and missing persons who suffered heavy rainfall in Wenchuan on the "8.20" mountain torrent and mudslide disaster. According to reports, starting from 0:00 on August 20, heavy rains to heavy rains fell in Wenchuan County. The cumulative maximum rainfall in the county reached 65 mm, flash flood warnings occurred in 22 dangerous areas, and heavy rainfall in 8 townships suffered heavy rainfall and heavy mountain torrent mudslide disasters.
According to the notice, as of 12 noon on August 22, Wenchuan's "8.20" heavy rainfall caused a total of 11 people to be killed and 26 people lost contact.
Beijing Youth Daily reporter noticed that among the 11 people killed, 10 have been confirmed, most of them are middle-aged and elderly people over 50 years old. Another 33-year-old victim is the squad leader of the full-time fire brigade of Wenchuan Fire Brigade, who died on the 20th. During this heavy rainfall, many roads around Wenchuan were interrupted, and many places once became "isolated islands". Through the efforts of local departments, Wenchuan County has transferred more than 47,000 tourists.
According to the rescue team of the Aba Prefecture Public Security Bureau to Sanjiang Town, Wenchuan County, after Sanjiang Town was attacked by mudslides, the roads and communications were interrupted, and about 21,000 tourists were stranded in Sanjiang Town. After 40 hours of joint efforts by police and civilians, as of August 22, all of these tourists had been evacuated, and no casualties were found during the evacuation.
News said that evacuating tourists from Sanjiang Town can only be done through the Yaozishan Village Road, which is not suitable for large vehicles to pass. Starting from the afternoon of August 20, the emergency rescue team of the State Public Security Bureau, together with the local party committee and government, organized hundreds of private cars from Sanjiang and Shuimo villagers to transport stranded tourists from Sanjiang Town to Shuimo along Yaozishan Village Road, and then took a bus back to Chengdu.
On the afternoon of the 22nd, Mr. Yang, a family member of a witness of the heavy rain disaster, told the Beijing Youth Daily reporter that five relatives were trapped in Sanjiang Town due to a sudden mountain torrent. "The ones trapped are my grandparents, mothers, uncles and a child. We usually live in Chengdu. Before the heavy rain, they were at the farmhouse to escape the summer heat. The oldest was my grandmother. She is over 80 years old, and the child is only 5 years old."
Mr. Yang's mother said that before the water surge, there was a water outage in the farmhouse. Later, the water in the nearby river began to soar. At first, the family lived on the first floor of the farmhouse, and then moved to the fifth floor.

According to the Propaganda Department of the Aba Prefecture Committee, on the morning of August 22, the emergency rescue access road at the end of the Wenchuan Dankanliangzi Tunnel, which was interrupted by the heavy rainfall in Wenchuan on the "8.20" was opened, which also means that the access road at the Duwen Expressway line will be opened.According to the Transportation Management Office of Aba Prefecture, Sichuan, on the morning of the 22nd, passenger vehicles from Heishui to Wenchuan resumed their shifts, and the emergency shifts from Maoxian and Jiuzhaigou were sent to Chengdu, and the other counties were still temporarily suspended from operation to Chengdu. In terms of power supply, according to State Grid Sichuan Power Company, this disaster caused 8 hydropower stations, 5 110 kV substations, , 13 35 kV substations, 20 110 kV lines, 52 35 kV lines, and 70 10 kV lines to be shut down, 921 station areas and 24,432,000 users to be powered out, and the power outage areas are mainly Wenchuan County, Sanjiang, Shuimu and other towns.
