Rather than Ichisaki Miyake is a fashion designer, it is better to say that he is an artist.
His design breaks away from the Western modeling model, reorganizes the innovative forms of oriental clothing technology with reverse thinking, and constructs a beautiful and ethereal philosophical artistic conception.
A piece of cloth to a life fold
"The foundation of Tao is natural." Miyake Ichisa asked the origin of design. He believed that clothes are a piece of cloth on the moving body, an extension of the body, and the outline of the body, and clothing should reflect the characteristics of the body itself.
His "second skin" concept has also been developed into a "Piece of Cloth" design. He and former brand design director Dai Fujiwara made a program, which reflects the entire process of clothing design and production through computer programming. During the whole process, a complete piece of clothing can be made with only one piece of cloth. There is no means of tailoring, sewing and other means. Users can recreate later and use different methods such as draping, folding, and wrapping to show the beauty of the body and personality.
For Miyake Ichisaki, there are no taboos in choosing clothing materials. Rice paper, white cotton cloth, linen, etc. can simulate the human body texture, and finally create a modern high-end garment.
If the design of "one piece of cloth" was Miyake's attempt to minimalist style in his early artistic career, then when it came to the "Pleates Please" period, he played minimalist style like a magician.
Miyake is obsessed with origami. Origami art was later integrated into his design blood, allowing oriental traditional culture and fashion design to coexist. "I always think that the space between the fabric and the body creates the clothing. After hand folding, we create a new, irregular undulating space."
Miyake Ichisaki's fold design is similar to origami art. It is a flat object that is hand-made from two-dimensional to three-dimensional. He changed the production process of traditional pleated clothing, cut the large-sized fabric into the required shape, and then sandwiched it between two layers of laundry paper like a sandwich, put it in a hot press to press, and finally made it into three-dimensional lines that are not afraid of water washing and can withstand tossing.
wrinkled clothing became very popular once it was launched, and female white-collar workers couldn't put it down. The fabric of the clothes is light and wear-resistant, and the three-dimensional and futuristic design is also very consistent with urban culture. When you go out, you only need to roll it into a ball to make the trunk, but it can still be kept intact when you take it out.
Eastern and Western
Miyayashi Ichisaki was born in 1938 in Hiroshima, Japan. When the atomic bomb exploded, he was only in the first grade of elementary school. The radiation generated by the explosion made him feel weak and weak in all his limbs, and his mother unfortunately died a few years later due to burns. Although he has experienced suffering that many people have never faced, he always has a peaceful mindset about it. "I don't know if my personality is related to childhood experiences, but I know that everything that happened to me is a valuable experience to me."
He loved painting since he was a child. When he grew up, he studied graphic and clothing design in Tokyo and Paris, and studied design pioneers such as Laroche and Givenchy. At that time, with the support of the United States, American cultures such as Mickey Mouse and Marilyn Monroe were prevalent. Miyake mixed his life experiences in the East and West, intending to create unique design works.
Miyake Ichisaki believes that Western high-end fashion ignores its own functionality because of its strong sense of form. Therefore, he put forward a balanced aesthetic proposition that combines artificiality and nature, virtuality and reality, giving the body and clothing a way to balance. In his design works, the clothing seems simple, but in fact it is all-encompassing, with both practicality and artistic conception, reflecting the clever philosophy of the oriental avenue of simplicity.
In 1971, Miyake Ichisaki exhibited his first design series with the theme of "Potato Pocket", but this design did not attract many people's attention. It was not until 1973 that Miyake Ichisaki held a high-end ready-to-wear press conference in Paris and became the first Japanese to hold a fashion week in Paris that he truly promoted his design to the world. His design philosophy continued to impact the traditional Western fashion system, which laid the foundation for him to become a leader in the world fashion stage.
1976, Miyake Ichisaki brought the design back to Japan and held the "Fashion Exhibition of Miyake Ichisaki and Twelve Black Girls, and "Flying with Miyake Ichisaki", which caused a great sensation in Japan and officially opened a fashion empire that belonged to him. After becoming famous, Miyake Ichisaki has launched 11 brands, including ISSEY MIYAKE MEN, 132.5 ISSEY MIYAKE, etc., covering multiple fields such as clothing, fragrance, lighting, luggage, etc., and has practiced his artistic pursuit in various fields throughout his life.
In addition to clothing
In addition to clothing, Miyake Ichisaki brought his aesthetic inspiration to many fashion items, and has cooperated with various internationally renowned brands.
The sub-line of Issey Miyake BAOBAO pursues the minimalist concept of Miyake. The handbag is composed of diamond grids. If the diamond grid is damaged, it can be replaced at will. The shiny metallic material and color make it look cool and lively, presenting a futuristic feeling that ordinary leather bags do not have.
Lifetime Water has been at the top of the fragrance list since its debut. The taste integrates the water lilies in the spring water, which are clear and ethereal, without any flattery and sweetness, reflecting a non-complimentary and unjust attitude.
Miyake Ichisaki and United Nude, a shoe brand known for its architectural aesthetics, jointly launched the "The Rock and Wrap Shoes" series of shoes.
In addition, it has also jointly created a series of "1/6" watches with the Japanese professional watch brand Seiko. The black, white and gray color matching and the needle design have a calm and homemade Japanese aesthetic.
In 2012, Miyake Ichisaki's "in-ei (shade)" series origami lanterns designed by Italian lamp brand Artemide were exhibited at the Milan Design Week and won the Best Design Fashion Design Award.

The director of the Paris Museum of Decorative Arts called Miyake Isai as "the greatest clothing creator of our time", and his photographer said that his design "although not fashionable, it makes people with taste more charming when they wear it."
He subverts people's understanding of fashion, constantly traces the origin of design, builds a bridge between the artistic structures of the East and the West in creative ways, and brings simplicity and comfort to the extreme in each product line, so that design truly integrates with daily life.
Perhaps this is also the only reason why Jobs loves Miyake's life. Art and science are separated but not separated, and the world is not boundary. They broke up at the foot of the mountain and then met again on the top of the mountain.
