The first National Congress of the Communist Party of China was held on July 23, 1921, and the anniversary of the birth of the Party was July 1. Why are the time inconsistent between the two? Why did July 1st become the anniversary of the birth of the Party?

regards July 1 as the anniversary of the birth of the Party, and was proposed by Mao Zedong in May 1938. At that time, Mao Zedong proposed in his article " on the protracted war ": "July 1 this year is the 17th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China." This is the first time that the central leadership has clearly stated that " July 1, " is the anniversary of the birth of the Party.
The founders of the first National Congress who had participated in Yan'an at that time were Mao Zedong and Dong Biwu. They recalled that the First Congress was held in July, but they could not remember the exact date of the meeting. Due to the lack of archival materials, it was impossible to verify for a while, so July 1 was identified as the anniversary of the birth of the Party.
"July 1st" was the anniversary of the birth of the Party, and was first seen in the central document in June 1941. At that time, the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China issued the "Instructions on the 20th Anniversary of the Birth of the Communist Party of China and the Fourth Anniversary of the Anti-Japanese War." The Instructions said: "This year's July 1st is the 20th anniversary of the emergence of the Communist Party of China, and July 7th is the fourth anniversary of China's anti-Japanese war. Each anti-Japanese base area should convene meetings separately, adopt various measures to hold commemorations, and publish special issues or specials in various publications." This is the first document in the name of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China to commemorate the "July 1st" as the anniversary of the birth of the Party.

In October 1939, the early party publication of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, "The Communists", was founded. Mao Zedong wrote and published the lyrics , proposing that party building is a "great project." The opening date of the First National Congress of the Party was not clear until the late 1970s by party history workers. Based on the newly discovered historical materials and verification results, the date of the First National Congress was determined as July 23, 1921. Although the anniversary of the birth of the Party is not the specific date of the First National Congress of the Party, the glorious festival of July 1st has been deeply engraved in the hearts of the whole Party and people of all ethnic groups in the country. It has become an important festival for people to commemorate every year and has also become a part of Chinese festival culture.
