This is the latest photo disclosed by the overseas dismantling agency Monro. Before this, I have been thinking about how Tesla can use the battery cell as part of the rigid strength of the entire battery and vehicle structure. Although Musk has said that the battery cell will be used to bear part of the shear force, and will directly integrate the battery pack upper cover with the passenger compartment upper cover, this implementation method still takes some effort, and at the same time, we must suspect that it is really busy doing this. After looking at this picture, you can clearly understand that it has indeed achieved the desired effect!
Basically, it uses the idea of filling glue with a whole package. From the perspective of purpose, the glue is mainly structural strength, making all the components in the upper, lower and shell stick together (except Penthouse). After the battery packaging is completed, it looks like a cement block!
The entire package, as a whole, has very good mechanical properties. When you step on it, it is basically like stepping on the floor, and it is solid.
Here we can vaguely see the locations of the 4 "modules". This old version of Model Y is still quite similar. The bigger difference is that since it is in and out of the water pipe at the same end, the entire liquid-cooled pipeline area occupies much larger space than the old version.

There are considerable changes in the structure of Penhouse ( distribution box ), the overall height has been improved, and the sealing method has changed; in terms of electrical layout, the large space utilization has not moved, and the specific parts, such as Pyrofuse, have been adjusted because it needs to open the upper cover of the penthouse in the car to disconnect the high-voltage circuit, so as to facilitate maintenance and safety considerations; there is another change in electrical direction in that its fast charging DC plug is very design change; another change in electrical direction is greater than the change in busbar, and it is currently seen that copper busbar may be more used than the old Model Y; the change in liquid cooling lies in the direction layout of the liquid cooling pipeline, the diameter of the pipeline, and the material of the pipeline. etc.
Several design key points that need to be confirmed in the entire package are: (1) thermal runaway protection (including insulation); (2) How to fix the lower box of the battery cell, that is, its battery cell explosion valve sprays downwards, and there should be a hollow structure, the lower box-hollow structure-battery, what is the combination of the three. (3) The electrical connection between the battery cells should be two-choice, s-Plaid and 3/Y.
Then, for the most important CTC battery pack and the whole vehicle, the fixing and sealing between the battery pack and the whole vehicle, is basically clear:
A circle of main sealant (bars), the entire battery pack, including the upper cover floor, is fixed with the whole vehicle through 38 bolts. There is another issue worth paying attention to at the entire system level. There is a bottom guard plate at the bottom of the battery pack. What is the relationship between this board and the lower box? Is it a functional integration or a combination of a separate physical level. Let's take a closer look later.
