Juelin Temple was originally Yi'an Temple. It was built by the house of Chen Tanshu, a scholar who was in charge of the first year of Guangming in the Tang Dynasty (880 AD). By the fourth year of Daguan in the Song Dynasty (1110 AD), Emperor Huizong specially named the temple "Juelin Shang Temple" and gave the plaque "Shangshu Fazhenzong" by the old monk Miaochan, which was hung in the Dharma Hall. After Emperor Gaozong crossed the south, he gave a gift of "Golden and Millet Dharma Realm" and hung it in the middle of the mountain gate.
The temple was destroyed in the late 5th year of the Yuan Dynasty and was rebuilt by Monk Shanqing, a monk in Hongwu, Ming Dynasty. Yongle years, Master Daoyan was reclining in Qingyuan Pavilion in the room, and the temple became the Taoist temple of the national master. During the Jiajing period of Ming Dynasty (1560 AD), Lu Wen, a scholar from Gusu, spent a huge amount of money to rebuild the palace. In the 11th year of Shunzhi in the Qing Dynasty (1654 AD), the mountain gate was rebuilt. In the 11th year of the reign of Emperor Kangxi (1672 AD), the Great Beef Pavilion was built.
Because the lecture temple is a teaching temple, the monks in Changzhou County all had to come to Juelin Temple to listen to the sutras and receive the teachings, so there was a grand scene of thousands of monks having dinner at that time. The temple has always been incense and is known as the famous temple in Suzhou and Hangzhou. When it was prosperous, it occupied a large area and was divided into four lower courtyards: Miaozhi Temple, Putuo Temple, Chongfu Temple and Juedi Temple.

Today's Juelin Temple was rebuilt in 1998 and has undergone the efforts of many abbots. Since 2013, the main hall, the Heavenly King Hall, the Guanyin Hall, the Ksitigarbha Hall, the screen wall and the wing room, etc., have newly built living areas such as the original Dharma Rain Sky Flower Hall, the Galan Hall, and the Buddhist Hall. Each important temple has an electronic merit treasure with a red technology that introduces the history of the temple. Suzhou Juelin Temple is a holy place for Suxi and Xi and surrounding believers to worship incense and worship Buddha.
