Liu Min, original name Liu Wenmin, was born in 1904 in a peasant family in Liu Laowei, Xixiang, Hefei (now Feixi County Mingchuan Township).
1928, Liu Min went to the Lu'an teacher training institute with a party organization alone; in the autumn of the same year, he joined the Communist Party of China under the introduction of Sun Shi. After graduation, Liu Min went to Nanguanting, Lu'an to establish a public night school, organize a farmer's association, and set up a party group. On January 20, 1930, Liu Min organized the Peasant Red Guard to launch a peasant riot in Nanguanting to support Red Army .
In September 1932, the Hefei County Committee of the Communist Party of China suffered damage. Liu Min returned to Hefei as a central inspector to restore the party organization in accordance with the central instructions. In January 1934, with the approval of the Shanghai Central Bureau of the Communist Party of China, the restored Hefei Central County Party Committee was reorganized, and Liu Min was appointed as secretary. Due to heavy work and hard life, he contracted lung disease and vomited blood frequently. In July of the same year, his wife Song Jiyun (at the time of the Communist Party of China Central Committee) was arrested and sacrificed for betrayal by a traitor. Liu Min suppressed the grief of losing his relatives and worked for the party day and night.
In September 1934, due to the reversal of the revolutionary situation, the two central county committees of Shou County and Hefei were merged into the Central County Committee of the Communist Party of China, with Liu Min as secretary. At the same time, the guerrillas in Shou County and Hefei were merged to form the Northwest Anhui Guerrilla Brigade. In the spring of 1935, according to the instructions of the central government, the Central County Committee of Northwest Anhui was changed to the Special Committee of Northwest Anhui, and Liu Min was appointed as the secretary of the Special Committee.
In June 1935, Liu Min adapted the Northwest Anhui Guerrilla Brigade into the Northwest Anhui Independent Guerrilla Division, which often broke it into pieces, armed covers the masses to scatter grain, severely punishes local reactionary forces, and actively carries out armed struggles. In September of the same year, the Northwest Anhui Special Committee was destroyed by the enemy, and the guerrilla division was also in trouble. After the Red Army arrived in northern Shaanxi during the Long March, Liu Min was sent to Kaifeng, Henan to carry out the task of rebuilding the Henan Provincial Committee, and later went to Xuzhou as a central commissioner to carry out work.
In April 1938, the party organization sent Liu Min, who had been ill and persistent in working, to Yan'an for treatment. When the Kuomintang attacked Yan'an in 1947, he died of illness in Lin County, Shaanxi Province during the transfer. He was 43 years old.
