A reporter from Modern Express learned that this marks the completion of the pouring of the outer walls of the six 270,000 cubic storage tanks with the largest single tank capacity in the world, laying a solid foundation for the next step of lifting the tank gas.

Among them, the first phase expansion project started construction in June 2021, and 6 270,000 cubic LNG (liquefied natural gas) storage tanks with the largest single tank capacity in the world, making it the largest LNG storage tank base in the world during the same period. The inner diameter of the outer tank wall of the tank is 94.2m, the wall thickness is 0.9 to 1.2m, and the height is 47m. The wall height is the largest among LNG storage tanks in the world.
"The design and construction of 270,000 cubic storage tanks have no mature experience and technology to learn from in China." According to Chen Tuanhai, senior engineer of the R&D Center of China National Offshore Oil and Gas Power Group, China National Offshore Oil continues to research and adopt independent core technologies to comprehensively overcome the core technology of 270,000 cubic ultra-large LNG storage tanks, filling the gap in domestic ultra-large volume LNG storage tank design and construction technology. Compared with traditional small and medium-sized LNG storage tanks, while the capacity and size increase, the design difficulty and construction difficulty increase exponentially.
Chen Tuanhai said that in order to ensure that the outer tank of the 270,000 cubic cubic storage tank meets the ultimate bearing capacity requirements when encountering accidental working conditions, and stand firm within the 50-year design service life, the engineers repeatedly considered various indicators, considered the load capacity under different working conditions such as operation, tests, earthquakes, fires, leakages, explosions, etc., calculated the load combinations of more than 150, and simulated and calculated more than 1,000 times. The best design plan was selected to ensure that the storage tank structure was safe and stable under various extreme conditions.

On March 7, the first phase expansion project of Yancheng's "Green Energy Port" began to pour the first floor wall. It took more than 160 days, more than 1,000 pump trucks and tankers, more than 2,000 construction personnel were invested, and about 12,000 tons of steel bars were installed, which is equivalent to 1.2 Eiffel Tower steel. The cumulative concrete poured is nearly 80,000 cubic meters, which can fill 42 standard swimming pools. During this period, the project team overcame adverse factors such as the epidemic and high temperature, prepared sufficient construction materials, staggered high temperature construction, continuously monitored the blood pressure of workers, carried out safe production and epidemic prevention and control, and completed the task of casting external tank walls with high quality.
"This 'big Mac' that can stack three Boeing 747 passenger aircraft inside can store 169 million cubic meters of liquefied natural gas, which is enough for Beijing's 2-month daily gas." Ren Jianxun, manager of the Phase I expansion project project department of CNOOC Jiangsu Natural Gas Co., Ltd., said that safely storing large-scale -162℃ liquefied natural gas puts strict requirements on the quality of the concrete walls of LNG storage tanks. The project team dared to take charge, actively overcome difficulties, optimized the ratio of low-temperature, impermeability and frost-resistant concrete to meet quality requirements.
In addition, in response to construction difficulties such as irregular wall size, large height difference, and wide casting surface, the project department strictly controls the entry of concrete raw materials, strictly controls the vertical accuracy of formwork within 5mm, adds eight-character braces and cross-binding of steel mesh hoisting, and refines the casting construction arrangements in sections, and integrates high-level safety control throughout the entire high-quality construction process, laying a solid foundation for the smooth completion of the casting of the outer tank of the storage tank.

6 270,000 cubic storage tanks have been poured into the outer tank wall, and the dome prefabrication, air pressure top lift, and inner tank 9 nickel steel plate welding will be carried out in the future. After the overall project is put into production, the annual processing capacity of LNG can reach 6 million tons, equivalent to 8.5 billion cubic meters of gaseous natural gas, which can be used for people's livelihood in Jiangsu Province for about 28 months. Based on the 5-degree meter of natural gas power generation by 1 cubic meter, 8.5 billion cubic meter of natural gas can generate about 42.5 billion kWh of electricity. It can reduce emissions of carbon dioxide and sulfur dioxide and sulfur dioxide, which is equivalent to planting 60 million trees.
