Speaking of the "Taoyuan" back then, we have to talk about the "House Project" in Shantou. Since the founding of New China in 1949, urban residents' housing in various parts of the country has basically been distributed under the state. It reflects a kind of national welfare, also known as welfare housing distribution. Before 1983, the provincial government allocated more than one million yuan to Shantou every year, and could only build a few thousand square meters of housing. There were too many monks and less porridge, which could not meet the demand at all. If the construction speed was at this level, it would take more than 200 years to solve the problem of housing difficulties for the people in Shantou. The masses are anxious, and the rulings are even more anxious. The Shantou government draws on the advanced experience of others and combines the actual situation of the city to design a new way to subsidize housing for sale (parts for individuals, part for enterprises, part for the country) to gradually transition to commercial housing. In this way, the subsidized housing of "Three, Three, Four", "Two, Two, Two, Eight" that were first created in the country, solving the problems of housing difficulties for many people.
Shantou "Taoyuan" is the first phase of the third subsidized housing community built under this background. It was completed at the end of 1993 and was allocated and sold to residents with housing difficulties who meet the application requirements in 1994. The community is located on the north side of Jinfeng Road, the widest road (58 meters wide) in our city at that time. The entire residential community is in the shape of a peach, so it is named "Taoyuan". Because peaches are like heart shape, they are also called the "heart" of the island. After Taoyuan was completed and used, it received visits from guests from all over the country, including at home and abroad, and even visited many leaders of the Party and the state. That was the most glorious moment in Taoyuan.
- Shantou's "Taoyuan" has gone through more than 20 years since its birth. The baptism of time has brought a beautiful little girl to the middle-aged aunt today. The houses are old, greening, and property management have all kinds of problems. This is a fact and a natural law. Is “Taoyuan” worthless? Is it going to be pushed back? The answer is - no! Shantou is now carrying out renovation projects for old urban areas. On the basis of the original, the old urban areas will be upgraded and renovated to make the old look new. "Taoyuan" has good luck again this time and has been included in the first batch of old city renovation list by the government. I think "Taoyuan" will definitely not disappoint the citizens, and will definitely regain the myth of the fairy tale palace back then. A brand-new and beautiful new "Taoyuan" will definitely appear in the eyes of citizens. "Taoyuan" - Get off again in full dress!
