I said a few days ago that the ugliest joke on the Korean battlefield was that our 50th Army was pursuing the US military late at night, while the US military fled late at night. At that time, in order to survive, the Americans threw flares to the British position, causing heavy losses to the 29th Brigade of the British Army.
Our 50th Army, originally the 60th Army of the Kuomintang, was composed of children from Yunnan. It was said to be the 60th bear, with a loose discipline and no combat effectiveness.
However, after the 60th Army surrendered in the Northeast uprising, it joined the Communist Party and was reorganized into the 50th Army, which shocked Greater East Asia on the Korean battlefield, so it has a new nickname called 50 courage, with a strong style and tenacious battle. It is called a god-like army. Due to the limited space of the third issue, the 50th Army's deeds were only half of the story. Today Issue Issue Issue Tsai Zhengguo, the acting commander of the 50th Army.
On the Korean battlefield, because the commander Zeng Zesheng returned to his country to cultivate, he changed his deputy commander Cai Zhengguo to temporarily serve as the commander. As an excellent general of the Republic, after Cai Zhengguo took office, he immediately annihilated the 27th Brigade of the British Army and greatly boosted his military power!
may be the arrangement of fate. The 50th Army had an indissoluble bond with the British. The previous commander beat the 29th Brigade, and this commander annihilated the 27th Brigade and used two heavy British brigades to achieve one of the most classic infantry anti-tank combat cases.
British army captured
At that time, Britain was known as one of the most advanced countries in tank technology, but after encountering the 50th Army of the Volunteer Army, according to British humor, the tank should indeed be opened into the museum and placed with the dinosaur skeleton.
No matter how you joke, the centurion tanks equipped by the British army are not only not weak but also terrifyingly strong. They are the tanks in Western countries that have served the longest and most countries after World War II, and are also one of the most outstanding tanks. One hundred vehicles used to fight 600 Soviet-made T62 and T55.
As the fist equipment of the old capitalist powers, the centurion had almost no dark history, but in the Korean battlefield, he lost two brigades in the hands of the 50th Army.
One of the figures that made the British army suffer a lot is Cai Zhengguo, the acting commander of the 50th Army. He was born in 1909 and participated in the revolution in 1929. His name was chosen by himself.
From the timeline, we can see that the most painful experience of their generation was warlord melee and fighting against Japan and saving the country. Therefore, the highest quality of their generation is the fearless spirit of sacrifice, saving the nation from danger and generously going to the national crisis, no less than the old Qin.
The reason why I have made selfless contributions to the motherland is because I don’t want to return to the old society where mountains and rivers are broken.
From Cai Zhengguo, he studied with a teacher for three years, and then worked as a carpenter. Like those aspiring young people who have experienced warlord melee, they actively devoted themselves to communism, which led to the above-mentioned change to Zhengguo and determined to save the country.
Cai Zhengguo's resume is step by step. Because he performed well in the township trade union and the Young Pioneer Team, he soon joined the Second Infantry School of the Red Army.
Later, the domestic situation changed. Cai Zhengguo participated in the Long March and was seriously injured on many sides. At that time, not to mention painkillers, it was difficult to solve food and clothing. Cai Zhengguo used a bayonet to peel out the bullets in his body...
Cai Zhengguo
I have suspected the statement that he stripped bullets after such serious injuries. However, since I interviewed hundreds of battlefield veterans, including seven or eight seriously injured, they all said that on the real battlefield, they were blocked by bullets and shells, and they were not yelling like in the movie. If conditions permit, they would wait for the health team to rescue. If conditions permit or they were surrounded, they were all ready to fight until the last moment.
A veteran of the self-defense counterattack against Vietnam who was interviewed by the author was seriously injured and blocked by the enemy's firepower for seven hours. There were more than 400 wounded people lying beside him, and no one was so painful that he shouted. At most... A long sigh shows that our party's strong military tradition was inherited from the generation of Cai Zhengguo.
From the Agrarian Revolution to the War to Resist U.S. Aggression and Aid Korea, Cai Zhengguo has grown from a passionate patriotic youth to an outstanding general of the Republic. He has been valued by the Party Central Committee and the Military Commission and has been commended many times.Cai Zhengguo's growth history is also the growth history of the Red Army, the Eighth Route Army, and the People's Liberation Army, and is also accompanied by the birth history of the New China!
New China was founded on October 1, 1949. Less than a year after its establishment, the enemy had already reached its doorstep, and it was known as the strongest coalition in human history.
The bombed Yalu River Bridge
This young country born in suffering was forced to resist the United States and aid Korea because the small peninsula is very close to China and far away from the United States. Looking back on the past, the Japanese invaded China from the peninsula, and history has proved that China and North Korea have lost their lips and teeth are cold.
Let’s talk a little further. If the Americans’ arrogant arrogance are not repelled, the focus of the Cold War is likely to shift to East Asia; the old European powers are still overwhelmed, let alone the rising new China?
The 40th Army of the Volunteer Army led by Cai Zhengguo drove into the Korean battlefield on October 19, 1950, and played the classic tactics that military and historical fans talked about: one point two sides three three systems, four groups and one team, four fast and one slow .
The United States-led "United Nations Army" has just experienced the baptism of World War II, and its commander-in-chief MacArthur is even more in the limelight.
The troops where Cai Zhengguo was located entered the Korean battlefield just ten days ago and entered the first battle. This was another collision between the Chinese and the Western coalition forces.
The old social soldiers of the Eight-Nation Alliance had disappeared from the dust of history. The Chinese men of New China fought for national dignity and for the hard-won proletarian regime.
On the front line of the Liangshui Cave, Cai Zhengguo commanded the 121st Division and bit the US military's more than 20,000 troops; cooperated with the headquarters to capture Wenjing within two days. The United Nations forces led by the United States will be attacked south of the Qingchuan River! The first battle of our volunteer army entering North Korea ended with a total victory of 52,000 enemies, the "United Nations" army.
The senior executives of the Volunteer Army's headquarters in North Korea saw Cai Zhengguo's strategy on the battlefield, and remembered that when Cai Zhengguo was the division commander in the Fourth Field Army, he was named "Eternal Victory Division Commander"; for such an outstanding commander, he naturally had to be entrusted with important responsibilities.
After careful consideration by the Volunteer Army Command, Cai Zhengguo was dispatched to the 50th Army to serve as deputy commander. Because the commander Zeng Zesheng returned to the country to cultivate, Cai Zhengguo served as acting commander during the period before Zeng Zesheng returned.
The victories of the battles later proved the correctness of Peng Dehuai's choice of Cai Zhengguo.
There are two old soldiers of the 50th Army who recalled each other, and wrote this:
Deputy Cai’s army is strict in the army and is meticulous in handling military affairs. He pays special attention to theory and practice, so that the 50th Army is more cohesive and becomes a harmonious, united and able to fight. Because the US military clamored to use atomic bombs, I went to the headquarters on behalf of the 50th Army to learn the principles and defense methods of defending atomic bombs. After returning, I reported to Deputy Commander Cai. Deputy Commander Cai ordered us not only to study and train according to theory, but also to tell everyone what to do and how to deploy positions...
Deputy Commander Cai trained us step by step, two sides of the Northeast Field Army, three-three systems... and other tactics.
encountered the People's Army's retreating tank regiment on the battlefield because the T34 tank they drove was encountered by the American napalm bombs, hoping that we would help put out the fire; when we arrived, we saw the gun barrel bent by the napalm bombs, and the fire extinguishing tools we mastered at that time were useless at all, so we could only watch the tanks burned.
Deputy Commander Cai led us to defeat the advanced equipment US military through flexible tactics.
Cai Zhengguo
In my opinion, Cai Zhengguo's joining injected spiritual strength into this army and literacy in tactical and tactical techniques, and transformed from the inside out; this former Kuomintang army quickly gained strong combat power under Cai Zhengguo's transformation.
After the five battles of the Volunteer Army, on January 25, 1952, while Cai Zhengguo was acting commander, the enemy began to launch a crazy attack from the north of Seoul, and rushed to our Volunteer Army positions on the entire line.
50 Army has a arduous task, responsible for defending against enemies on the front battlefield, and facing the 27th Brigade of the British Army. In the early stages after the battle, the 50th Army fell into a tough battle.
After suffering a great loss under the 50th Army, the British 29th Brigade has accumulated experience in fighting against Chinese army . The most important thing is that the tank top cover must be locked.
The British have deeply understood that the Chinese army at this time was no longer the Manqing navy of the old society, and they could not win overwhelming victory again.
As the elite 27th Brigade of Britain, he taught Rommel in North Africa, rescued the Gaul chicken in France, hammered Hitler in Germany, endured the test and tempering of World War II, possessed strong firepower infantry equipment, and was equipped with a royal tank battalion. In this battle, tanks and infantry launched a charge under the cover of aircraft and heavy artillery.
After the arduous battle of our 50th Army, we still lost three positions, but only four tanks of the 27th Brigade were blown up, as if at a disadvantage.
At 10 a.m. on the 27th, senior executives of the 50th Army gathered in the command post. Cai Zhengguo formulated a combat plan and decided to send a blaster to sneak into the enemy's tank position at night. The British army has always relied on equipment advantages, and what they were most not good at was close combat. Once the tanks were gone, they would lose their fighting spirit and would definitely be afraid psychologically. No matter how much the comrades pay, they must resolutely blow up enemy tanks.
After night, the 152nd Division of the 50th Army formed a total of twelve blasting groups, and under the cover of the night, they quietly sneaked into the tank position.
The author looked through the British army's war history and in their memoirs of soldiers, he called the tactics of our volunteer army "Moonlight Offensive". In fact, it is a night battle; the method of bombing tanks before has been targeted by the British army. After all, as an old power, he will not suffer a second loss. Therefore, the blasting hand rushed up the top cover with a bold rush and was fired by the machine gun behind.
This time, the tactic formulated by Cai Zhengguo was to move forward quietly at night. With the sudden surge of loud sounds coming one after another, the explosion shattered the tranquility of the long night.
Although the tanks of the 27th Brigade of the UK were blown up, our lovely volunteer soldiers also paid a heavy price. More than half of the blasting teams that participated in the operation were injured and half of the casualties.
The next morning, the 50th army officers and soldiers launched a counterattack, and were suppressed by tanks for two consecutive days, resulting in the sacrifice of countless comrades. The time for revenge finally came!
After this stop, most of the 27th Brigade of the British was annihilated, and the 27th Brigade of the British Army was completely abused. More importantly, friendly troops on both wings took advantage of this gap and launched a thunder counterattack. One part of the 38th Army and one of the 60th Army, successfully captured Tepingli and headed towards Yuanzhou. At this time, our army's full defense and the enemy's full attack had completely reversed, thus controlling the entire battle situation.
Later historical books evaluated that Cai Zhengguo did not kill many enemies in this battle, but it is crucial to the overall situation.
Deputy Commander Cai Zhengguo made outstanding achievements, but unfortunately, he died on the Korean battlefield on April 12, 1953 at the age of 44. The news reached Peng Dehuai and Chairman Mao's ears. The two couldn't accept it for a while, and the reaction was exactly the same. Chairman Mao even said "I'm a brave general!" 's words.
About the incident, in mid-February 1953, as the ice and snow melted in winter, in order to avoid greater casualties, the commander-in-chief issued an order: the various volunteer troops south of the Han River retreated to the north of the Han River and waited for the opportunity to fight.
The author has said many times that attacking and retreating on the Korean battlefield is equally difficult. Even on some battlefields, it is easy to attack and difficult to retreat. For example, during the Liberation War, the Kuomintang troops often evolved into defeat.
On the Korean battlefield, the magnetic tactics formulated by the US military Li Qiwei are mainly characterized by seizing the opportunity of the volunteers' withdrawal and following the pursuit and fighting defensive counterattack.
Therefore, the headquarters of the Volunteer Army issued an order to build fortifications on the south bank of the Han River within eight to ten days to cover the withdrawal of the main force of the Volunteer Army; be prepared to welcome the follow-up attacks of the US military and South Korea.
As expected, Li Qiwei's magnetic tactics once again showed its power at this moment; the 50th army led by Cai Zhengguo had just entered the scheduled location and was discovered by the US reconnaissance aircraft not long after it had just entered the predetermined location.
Before that, a large number of enemy reconnaissance aircraft had already appeared in the Lihuapu area ten kilometers away, followed by bombers, carrying out carpet bombing; there were multiple types of bombs, and blockbusters could destroy all buildings on the ground, and also dropped yellow phosphorus bombs. This kind of bomb could enter the inside of the bunker and burn from the inside out. (The yellow phosphorus bomb is chemically burned. Any point that splashes out after the explosion can burn through two centimeters of steel plates. If it touches the skin, it seems normal at the beginning, but in fact, the yellow phosphorus particles have started to burn from the inside.)
B29 bomber group
So when the doctor encounters such a wounded person, he will not do medical treatment in the early stage, but wait until the yellow phosphorus particles burn through the skin, and then clean the small and deep wound. Even with excellent medical conditions, harmful substances of yellow phosphorus will remain in the body, causing various serious complications of bone, such as chondritis, finger necrosis, pneumonia, etc.
What is said here is just a yellow phosphorus fire point, rather than a smoke-like yellow phosphorus hitting on the body. The yellow phosphorus bomb used by the US military is vicious and domineering. Although I heard of the bombing of Lihuapu before, I did not pay attention to it and believed that the enemy did not discover the headquarters of the 50th Army.
plus later, the 50th Army carried out activities at the garrison, and soldiers entered and exited frequently, believing that the enemy would not come for the time being, and this place is still on the second-line battlefield (the front-line troops have not yet withdrawn, so they are on the second-line and are responsible for cutting off the rear). But two US reconnaissance planes suddenly appeared above the military headquarters. The enemy had discovered it and there were important command agencies here.
At nine o'clock in the evening, Cai Zhengguo convened the chiefs of staff of each group to hold a meeting in a private house to discuss the combat tasks of building fortifications on the South Bank, and the chiefs of staff of each group should first report.
We must find out the problems highlighted in the construction of fortifications, because the 50th Army's mission is very important, we must resolutely resist the enemy's counterattack and cover the withdrawal of the large army. After the reports of the regiments such as
were completed, Cai Zhengguo wanted to speak. According to the memories of the survivors, the small candle reflected the face of Deputy Commander Cai. Deputy Commander Cai had just said something when we heard the roar of the bomb cutting through the sky...
The bomb mentioned here is the aviation bomb dropped by the US military. It only had time to shout and lie down, then it exploded and fainted.
When I woke up again, the roof was gone. I hurriedly asked Section Chief Zhao beside me, and where was Deputy Commander Cai? The other party replied that Deputy Commander Cai was injured and had entered the tunnel.
Tsai Zhengguo memorial service
On that night, after the US military's aviation bomb was dropped, Tsai Zhengguo was hit by multiple shrapnel, especially the most fatal in his head and chest, and he was already unconscious after being carried into the tunnel. An hour later, due to excessive blood loss, Cai Zhengguo died in his combat post.
When comrades sorted out Cai Zhengguo's remains, they found a note from their pockets of clothes. It was a letter written only yesterday, and they were to write it to his wife Zhang Bo. Content: Everything is fine on the front line of North Korea. The troops are fighting victory, so that their wife will not worry about it. After fighting this battle, he would take leave and return home to visit his wife and six-year-old son.
The war has been going on for three months, and the letter from home is worth ten thousand gold, but this letter has become Cai Zhengguo's suicide note. After reading it, the Chinese people all cried.
Tsai Zhengguo and his family group photo
The air strike of the 50th Army was the most serious incident in the three years since our army entered the Korean battlefield. Peng Dehuai was in the country at that time. After receiving the report, his face changed drastically and didn't say anything for a long time.
. Chairman Mao Zedong, Beijing, was taking a nap at the time and was woken up by his secretary Ye Zilong . After reading the telegram, his face turned pale and said a little dull: "Cai Zhengguo, Cai Zhengguo, unfortunately died in his country, and he also lost a brave general!"
Chairman Mao
After Cai Zhengguo died, his body was transported back to Shenyang and buried in the Martyrs' Cemetery.
Regarding the generals who died in North Korea, the author once told the story of the US military launching a bacterial war, which led to the commander of our 67th Army, Li Xiang, who died on the Korean battlefield.
Today, Cai Zhengguo, deputy commander of the 50th Army, after his death, the Volunteer Army summarized the experience and lessons:
1. The confidentiality work was not in place, and the continuous victory was won, and various groups in the country went to observe. Moreover, places with convenient transportation and complicated personnel exchanges are not suitable for military headquarters.
2, air preservation! This is a common topic. Before the control of air supremacy is impossible, the various command levels must be scattered and should not be concentrated in a range of two kilometers.
3. Leaders at all levels should be highly alert to what is happening around them. For example, when Lihuapu is bombed, they should be prepared in advance.
I would like to use this article to commemorate General Cai Zhengguo. There is no peaceful time, it’s just that someone is carrying the burden for you. Today’s happiness is hard-won. Don’t forget the martyrs and forge ahead.
