Virgin Galaxy announced on Tuesday that space flight tickets will be sold to the public on February 16, and customers will need to pay a deposit of $150,000, of which $25,000 cannot be refunded.

Virgin Galaxy’s space flight tickets start from $450,000 each. According to the company’s last year, Space Tour offers customers three options: single tickets for $450,000, "packing tickets" for relatives and friends, or "packing" the entire spacecraft .
It is understood that space flight will be launched from the U.S. spaceport in , New Mexico, and a few days of space preparation will be conducted before this. During space flight, astronauts will go through a 90-minute journey, including an iconic aerial launch and the Mach-3 space booster. The spacecraft flips gracefully, astronauts enjoy a few minutes of weightlessness and breathtaking views of the earth from the 17 windows of the spacecraft.
Meanwhile, Virgin Galactic also disclosed a rebranding plan to replace the iris of Sir Richard Branson, the founder of the brand logo, with the purple outline of its spacecraft. The move is intended to weaken the relationship between Virgin Galactic and its founder. Since the company went public in 2019, Branson has sold more than $1.25 billion in stock.

Virgin Galactic Unity spacecraft completed its fourth manned test flight on July 11 last year, and it was also the first full space test flight. The spacecraft carries 2 pilots and 4 mission experts. Branson participated in the test flight as a mission expert and returned successfully.
Virgin Galaxy accepted commercial space tour seat reservations from 2005 to 2014, when tickets per seat were sold at $200,000 to $250,000. Data in 2019 showed that more than 600 people paid deposits, with a total deposit of US$80 million. After the ticket price increase to $450,000 in August last year, some media reported that 100 tickets had been sold as of November of the same year. Even Musk, CEO of space exploration technology company SpaceX, has booked a Virgin Galactic space travel ticket for himself.

However, Virgin Galaxy did not fly to sufficient altitude and speed to enter orbit around the Earth. Instead, these suborbital flights are more like allowing passengers to float for a few minutes and be able to enjoy the beauty of the earth in the background of space, but the commercial doors of space journeys will be opened. UBS expects space travel to generate nearly $4 billion in revenue each year by 2030.
As of press time, Virgin Galaxy stock rose 28% to $10.41. As of Monday's close, the stock had fallen 85% from its June peak.
