When we were young, because of curiosity about the outside world, we always hoped to grow up soon. When we grew up, we would find that the innocence and romance of childhood was the beauty. Recently, Century Duoyun and artist Zhou Xue launched a new exhibition "Sleepwalking Children and Beauty - Zhou Xue Printmaking Art Exhibition" at Sinan Bookstore, inviting audiences to recall their childhood and youth together.
Contemporary fine brush painter Zhou Xue loved painting since childhood and was influenced by her artistic family. She began to specialize in fine brushwork figure painting when she was a teenager. Born in Xuancheng, Anhui, a hometown of rich cultural heritage, she likes to shuttle between the front and behind the scenes of the performance since she was a child, exploring the magician's little secrets on the magic scene, and cultivating feelings from the backstage of the circus and small animals. Her childhood experience of participating in various literary performances also allowed her to explore her own painting style.
Walking onto the third floor of the bookstore, you will see a fine-brush lady of different shapes, as if you are walking into a dream. This exhibition displays two of Zhou Xue's most representative works: "Beauty Record" and "Traveling·Dream".
Among them, the "Beauty Record" series mainly focuses on ancient beauties in opera and Hanfu culture, which is also related to Zhou Xue's favorite opera since she was a child. The classical beauties in her paintings are vivid and vivid, and the pictures are light and elegant, expressing the charm of the female characters in full depth. At the same time, you can feel the strong fragrance of books in the painting, giving the shape and color a sense of tranquility and elegance.
"Work·Dream" series is mainly used to depict children's images, which are innocent, dreamy, and full of fun, with fairy tale-like colors to convey memories of the green years. Zhou Xue uses imagination and exaggeration in this series, and his unique conception and presentation methods have injected fresh blood into contemporary fine-brush paintings on children's themes.
