In 1949, 2 million people retreated to the other end of the sea, and the settlement culture of Taiwan’s military villages gradually took shape since then. As a military important place, Hsinchu City , a large number of first-generation soldiers and relatives came here to live. The high-density military village population belongs to Taiwan, and it also includes extremely diverse military branches. It can be said to be a microcosm of Taiwan's military village culture. At that time, due to the situation, living space and materially struggling life, the residents of the entire military village became a closely connected network of relationships. Through the many life connections shared by the families, a common friendship between cross-provincial, cross-generational, and cross-blood relationship was created.
In order to inherit the unique culture of military villages, Hsinchu City launched the "Opening Fun - 2020 Hsinchu City Military Village Cultural Festival Joint Special Exhibition", combining the military village museum, the Black Bat Squadron Cultural Relics Exhibition Hall, the General Village Open Book Information Park, the Big Chimney Factory Insulation Base and other four military village venues, refine the unique taste of each military village, and invite the public to explore the unique life aesthetics of Hsinchu military village culture through reading, thinking, participation, and wandering.
"Open the taste" to explore the life aesthetics of Hsinchu's military villages!
A high proportion of the population of military villages has become a special place in Hsinchu city. In order to preserve and revitalize the historical memory of military families, Hsinchu has successively established military village museums, Black Bat Squadron Cultural Relics Exhibition Hall and other venues. In recent years, military village cultural corridors have also been built, including the "Jiangjun Village Open Book Information Park" re-planned from the former site of "Kincheng New Village", and the "Home Under the Big Chimney" of the Japanese Navy's Sixth Fuel Plant during World War II military sites. Through a series of preservation and activation plans, Hsinchu spared no effort to continue and carry forward the culture and spirit of military villages, so that the world can see the diverse appearance and beauty of Hsinchu.
