According to European Automobile News, the German environmental protection organization recently said that the nitrogen oxide emissions of GM's Opel brand models exceeded the standard, and the brand has denied violations.
German environmental protection organization DUH said that the test results of the University of Applied Science and Technology of Bern, Switzerland, showed that the 1.6L diesel version of the Opel Zafira model's nitrogen oxide emissions exceed 17 times the European VI standard.
DUH said that in laboratory tests, Zafira can meet the nitrogen oxide emissions of 80mg/km of Euro VI under only two rotations, but in four-wheel operation tests, nitrogen oxide emissions exceeded the standard. The agency said "can't find a reasonable explanation for this huge emission gap" and said it had submitted the experimental results to the German motor vehicle management agency KBA, requiring the car to be retested.
Opel responded that the result was "erroneous and unfounded". The company's engineers have retested the Zafira's 1.6L diesel version, meeting the European VI standards in both and four-wheeled operation. A spokesman for
