According to Hong Kong's Sing Tao Daily, on the 14th, the Hong Kong Legislative Council Finance Committee held an additional meeting to continue to elect a new president and vice chairman. However, at the meeting, several opposition lawmakers took turns to "attack" on the rules, resulting in the failure to enter the election process nearly two hours after the meeting began.
The current chairman of the Finance Committee, Chen Jianbo, earlier notified the members of parliament to the election on the 14th, but was opposed by opposition members. In response, the Finance Committee stated that according to the statement in paragraph 5 of the "Finance Committee Meeting Procedures", the incumbent chairman has the right to decide the date of the meeting. Chen Jianbo was present and said that although the decision to hold the meeting was issued temporarily, it still complies with relevant regulations. The frequent attacks of the opposition are simply "unreasonable" and obstructing the agenda of the meeting is not a "civilized method." He then denounced the opposition for inciting riots and poisoning young people in Hong Kong. "It is your 'fallac' that stimulated young people in Hong Kong. How many people have done things that they regret for life? It is because you and your group of people inciting riots, which led to the 'paralyzing' in Hong Kong. You are now obstructing the development of the meeting and trying to prevent the approval of livelihood projects. If you are really allowed to take charge of it, Hong Kong will be really finished."
According to Hong Kong media reports, on the 11th, the Hong Kong Legislative Council Finance Committee took the lead in resuming the meeting. Before the meeting began, opposition members were in trouble in the conference room, trying to disrupt the agenda of the meeting.
