Gou Jianli, former chairman of the Sichuan Provincial Committee of the Democratic Progressive Party, said in a recent interview that in the process of multi-party cooperation, the Sichuan Provincial Committee of the Democratic Progressive Party has fully played the role of political consultation, democratic supervision and participation in politics and policy-making. She hopes that the Sichuan Democratic Progressive Party can better perform the functions of participating parties in the future and make new contributions.
, Born in 1943, Gou Jianli's original profession was a people's teacher. By chance, she came into contact with the history of the Democratic Progressive Party. The shining names of the founders of the Democratic Progressive Party, such as Zhao Puchu, Xie Bingxin, , Fu Lei, and other founders of the founders of the Democratic Progressive Party and the older generation of comrades attracted her. Inspired by the older generation of comrades, in 1981, Gou Jianli joined the China Association for Promotion of Democracy and moved from a three-foot podium to the stage of working on the united front. From serving as vice chairman of the Sichuan Provincial Committee of the Democratic Progressive Party in 1987 to resigning as chairman in 2007, Gou Jianli has witnessed and experienced many important and major events in the united front. "In the 40 years since joining the Democratic Progressive Party, I have not only been a participant and practitioner of the multi-party cooperation system, but also a witness." Gou Jianli sighed.
When talking about the most unforgettable united front story, Gou Jianli talked about several "small things". She said that doing every "small thing" well can also reflect the institutional advantages of multi-party cooperation and release the charm of unity and work together. It is precisely because of such "small things" that the Democratic Progressive Party continues to contribute to the stage of multi-party cooperation.
At the end of 1998, in order to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the Third Plenary Session of the Eleventh CPC Central Committee, major media have successively published "Major Events Since the Third Plenary Session of the Eleventh CPC Central Committee" edited by The Central Document Research Office of the Communist Party of China. "When we found out from the newspaper that "Major Events" did not include the first regulatory document of our political party system, we immediately submitted information to the United Front Work Department of the Provincial Party Committee and the Central Democratic Progressive Party of China under the title "There are major omissions since the Third Plenary Session of the Eleventh CPC Central Committee". Gou Jianli recalled that one month later, the Sichuan Provincial Committee of the Democratic Progressive Party of China received a letter from the Central Document Research Office of . In addition to expressing gratitude to us for pointing out the problems, the letter also reported opinions on handling the matters including stopping the issuance of printed single copies, organizing personnel to re-examine and modify, and checking for omissions of major events.
In Gou Jianli's view, although the China Democratic Promotion Association is a party mainly engaged in high- and middle-level intellectuals engaged in education, culture, publishing and media, the scope of participation in politics and policy discussions is not limited to this, and it is necessary to carry out related work from a higher perspective and a broader level. Over the past few decades, the Sichuan Provincial Committee of the Democratic Progressive Party has made suggestions on local economic and social development, effectively safeguarding the legitimate rights and interests of workers, and paying attention to the local ecological environment. Many proposals have benefited people's livelihood and played an important role in the macroeconomic development of Sichuan Province.
Diligence, dedication, peace and generosity are the deepest impression Gou Jianli left on her colleagues. At work, she set an example. During the "Jinkang Cooperation", she encountered a landslide on the way to Kangding . In order to complete the work on time and smoothly, Gou Jianli walked 6 hours in the rugged mountain road. She often tells her colleagues that only by thinking about problems can one truly be upright, fair and honest in one's heart, and when dealing with problems, one must strive to be fair, kind and considerate, so that what she does can stand the test of practice and time.
In July 2007, provincial-level organizations of democratic parties across the country completed the term change. In order to help the new chairman change roles as soon as possible and adapt to the new positions and new requirements, the Central United Front Work Department invited three old leaders including Gou Jianli to give special lectures to the trainees of the new chairmanships of provincial-level democratic parties across the country.On the podium, Gou Jianli divided the core role of the chairman into four aspects: political gatekeeper, exemplary role in work, exemplary role in style, and exemplary role in dealing with people and things. After class, the students said that Gou Jianli's class was of great benefit.
