Just as the parties were working to use dialogue to resolve the issue between Philippine President Duterte and the Catholic Church, a senior priest did not seem to support the reconciliation between the two sides, and on July 2, the priest continued to attack Duterte.
ManilaAuxiliary Bishop Broderick Pabillo once again criticized Duterte and told believers not to blame Duterte's election on God.
Papiro responded to the question of "Why God chose Duterte as our president", saying that Duterte's election as president was not God's will. Papiro responded further in the email.
Papiro emphasized: "We cannot say that this is the voice of the people. The voice of the people is God's will, but this is not absolute."
Papiro said: "God did not choose Duterte as our president. 16 million people chose him as president, so he became president."
Papiro said: "Many incompetent leaders are chosen by the people. Let's give a few simple examples: Adolf Hippod Teller, Mussolini and even Ferdinand Marcos. They all came to power through elections. In the 2016 election, Duterte received only 16 million voters, not the vast majority of the 50 million voters. He is not the president who has received the support of the vast majority of the people."
Papiro recalled: During the 2016 election, the Catholic Church had reminded the public of Duterte's killing records in Davao City, and he used filthy language, disrespect for human rights and women's rights.
Papiro asked back, "Do we have the foresight? Have the previous prompts become reality?"
Papiro said that he hopes Filipino voters learn from their experience and keep their eyes open in the next election.
Papiro declared: "Our current chaos is not only caused by Duterte, but also related to parliament, MPs, officials and all those who succumb to rights. These people only focus on their careers and ignore the interests of the people."
Senator Panfilo Lacson urged President Duterte to have the style of a spokesperson and pay attention to wording. Because President Duterte's filthy words of the Filipino people and the entire nation are distracted from more important issues. But Laxon stressed that he would continue to support President Duterte and remind him of his identity - he represents not only the 1,600 people who voted for him two years ago, but he represents 109 million people.
Laxon said in an interview with dzBB reporter: "I still hope that the president can improve his political style, which is very beneficial to uniting the country. If he keeps talking in this way, we will be divided and misunderstood each other."
Laxon regretfully said that the lack of enterprising spirit in the Philippines is one of the main causes of poverty.
Laxon said Duterte was more decisive and sincere, but reminded: Duterte lacked consistency in combating corruption. There are problems with the job of firing corrupt officials.
Laxon said: "I saw double standards. He lacked consistency. He spoke sternly when he fired officials, but he quickly appointed them again."
