Yang Shirui, the principal of Taipei No. 1 Girls' High School, visited Guiyang No. 1 Middle School on the same day. This school, founded in 1906, left a deep impression on her and her fellow principals. She said that such a school with a profound historical heritage is amazing.

She told China News Service reporters that through communication with the school’s principal, she found that the educational concepts of the two schools coincided with each other, and "whole-person education" is the common point of basic education on both sides of the Taiwan Strait. She said: "'People' are the essence of education. The 'whole-person education' we talk about is to cultivate talents who have good communication with others and the surrounding environment."

This view is also recognized by Wen Shangde, principal of Yong'an Primary School in Taitung County. When he visited the Guiyang Affiliated Primary School of Beijing Normal University, he said that schools on both sides of the Taiwan Strait are working hard to shape students with comprehensive development, rather than just looking at grades.

In the primary school fire fighting practice hall, third-grade student Fang Yicheng showed the visiting principals how to use fire ropes. Facing many senior principals, she was not afraid at all. She introduced the fire fighting knowledge she learned in her bright voice and invited guests to practice it together. Wang Xiuzhen, the instructor of the

practice class, introduced that this is a special teaching activity of the school, and students can experience it more deeply through personal learning and operation.

Wen Shangde told reporters that communication is a compulsory course for growth, and this is part of personality shaping. This type of quality education is similar to the experiential education implemented in Taiwan in recent years. It requires students to increase their knowledge while paying attention to society, and to understand themselves and their hometown more during the process of participation, adapt to society and constantly adjust themselves.

He said that the basic education industries on both sides of the Taiwan Strait can learn from each other. Compared with the cross-strait teaching content, mainland teachers are professional and provide more knowledge in the classroom; Taiwanese teachers focus on humanities, set examples in front of students and convey love education.

Li Weijun, professor of the Department of Education of Taitung University, paid attention to educational assistance in the mainland. Guizhou Province's education level is not high in the mainland. At present, many Beijing universities have set up affiliated schools in Guizhou to provide good teaching resources and teacher training courses to improve teaching quality.

Li Weijun said that Taiwan also has cooperation between schools, teachers can communicate and visit each other, and senior university professors can serve as consultants in primary and secondary schools; group-style cooperation in mainland schools is more conducive to the rapid flow of resources and is worth learning. He pointed out that Guizhou's big data and artificial intelligence technology are at the forefront and can be connected to the education industry in the future, "there will be a lot of imagination."

"Cross-Strait and Hong Kong and Macao Basic Education Exchange Activities" is an education exchange platform sponsored by the Central Committee of the Democratic Progressive Party. Since 2005, the "Cross-Strait Middle School Principal Education Forum" and "Cross-Strait Basic Education Forum" have been carried out many times. People from the basic education sector of the Taiwan Strait and Hong Kong and Macao have jointly discussed issues such as education reform to enhance consensus and promote exchanges and cooperation.
