Russian President Putin praised Ukrainian President Volodmeier Zelensky for his acting skills in his field of expertise. He then points out the obvious difference between playing the president on TV and the real president.
On Friday, Putin talked about the possibility of meeting the new leader of Ukraine without any prerequisites, which caused laughter from the audience. Putin said he would not mind meeting the former comedian, although the Ukrainian side has not yet contacted him.
Putin said: "I don't know this person, but I hope we can get to know each other at some point." He then gave a brief introduction to Zelensky. Zelensky is a political newbie who fooled former Ukrainian president, candy giant Pitroporoshenko with an overwhelming victory in the April election.
Putin said: "He is a good actor."
Putin's words caused laughter in the audience, and Putin said that Zelensky was excellent in acting skills. Whether these skills are applicable is another matter when leading a country. "It's one thing to play the president, and it's another to be a president," Putin said. He admitted that Zelensky probably had the necessary presidential traits—besides political experience—but so far, he hasn't shown a clear self-image.
