Through "Today in History", we can look at the future from the past and change the future from the present.
Today is March 25, 2022. In 1998, in order to welcome the arrival of this world festival in 2000, People's Daily was initiated, and the 2000 countdown clock jointly established by the People's Daily International Department, Badaling Great Wall Special Zone and Chunlan Group was officially launched under the Badaling Great Wall in Beijing. Century Clock chose the world's advanced satellite automatic calibration clock, with an error of no more than one second every 30,000 years. To welcome the new century, many countries in the world have set up countdown clocks in their local areas, such as the UK in Greenwich Observatory , and France in Eiffel Tower , and these countdown clocks have become famous attractions. Looking back on March 25 in the history of technology, what key events have happened in the computer world on this day?
March 25, 1940: Jean Ichbiah, the father of Ada language, was born

Source: Wikipedia
Jean David Ichbiah was born on 25 March 1940. He was a French computer scientist and the original chief designer of the Ada language. He was a Greek and Turkish Jew who moved to France. Ichbiah was also one of the founding members of the IFIP WG 2.4 system implementation language. From 1972 to 1974, he worked on designing an experimental system implementation language called LIS, which is based on Pascal and Simulah designs.
Since the mid-1870s, the U.S. Department of Defense has been exploring the fundamentals of a larger new computer language to replace the FORTRAN and COBOL languages in the coming years; in this era, Ikebia joined CII Honeywell Bull (CII-HB) in Louveciennes, France as a member of the programming research department. His team hosted a competition to select the U.S. Department of Defense's embedded programming language; the "Green" language designed by Ikebia was selected in 1978, and he was able to continue to serve as the chief designer of the language, which was also renamed "Ada". The Ada language is named after the first computer programmer, Ada Lovelace.
In 1980, Ikebia left CII-HB and founded Alsys at La Celle-Saint-Cloud, and then he began to develop the Ada language compiler business. In the 1990s, Ikebia designed the FATALY keyboard layout, optimized for stylus or touch-based inputs. He then founded Textware Solutions, which sells text input software for PDAs and tablets, as well as text input software for medical transcription on PCs. Ikebia, who received a certificate of outstanding service from the U.S. Department of Defense in his later years for his work in Ada language, died of brain tumor complications at the age of 66.

March 25, 1999: The first Wiki site WikiWikiWeb released

WikiWikiWeb was on March 25, 1995 by its inventors programmers Ward Cunningham (Ward Cunningham) and Portland Pattern Repository The website discussed the software design model together and launched it, and it was modified from HyperCard written by Bill Atkinson, an engineer at . This Wiki software is written in the Perl programming language and was later renamed "WikiBase". WikiWikiWeb was originally the name of the wiki software running this website. The WikiWiki in the name is Hawaiian , which means "fast".
Ward Cunningham Design WikiWikiWeb's original intention is to cooperate with the Portland model knowledge base website to discuss design patterns, use it as a collaborative database, and simplify communication between programmers. The software and website were developed by Cunningham in 1994, and the concept of the website was based on the idea that Cunningham developed in the HyperCard stack built in the late 1980s.Cunningham came up with the name WikiWikiWeb because he was told by a Honolulu International Airport counter employee during a trip that he needed to take the Wiki Wiki Shuttle, an shuttle bus route running between airport terminals. Cunningham’s idea was to allow users to quickly edit pages of WikiWikiWeb, so he initially considered calling it “QuickWeb” but later changed his mind and named it “WikiWikiWeb.”
WikiWikiWeb pages are created by joining capital words together, a technique called camel. Some newer wiki software still follows this wiki tag format convention, while others, such as MediaWiki software that provides Wikipedia, allow links to be without camel case.
