U.S. Open has decided on the general semifinals. The quarterfinals will all end in the early morning tomorrow. In the women's competition, the world's No. 1 Svatech is the only Grand Slam singles champion, and she will face the United States No. 1 Pegula. On the men’s side, all the remaining players are working hard to win their first Grand Slam singles title.
Pliskova (22)vsSabalenka (6)
Both of these are WTA's strongest offensive players, and they both defeated the strong opponents in the last round. Priskova defeated Belarusian Azarenka , and Sabalenka eliminated Collins . This is the third time Priskova has won three sets in this competition. In the second round, Sabalenka seemed to have been eliminated, but in a 1-5 trailing situation, Sabalenka scored a game and defeated , Kanepi . The two had four fights, each winning twice. Although Priskova recently scored 0-3 in the U.S. Open quarterfinals, her outstanding serving ability and Sabalenka's double mistake made her a favorite to win the championship.
Lublev (9)vsTiafo (22)
At last year's US Open Open, Tiafo defeated Lublev in the game ending at 2:14 am. Tiafu was ranked 50th in the world at the time and has won the biggest victory of his life since then, eliminating Nadal out of the round of 16. Neither player has entered the semifinals in the Grand Slam, and whoever wins will make personal history. For Thiafu, the quarterfinals were already his best results, and Lublev lost four times in the quarterfinals. I wonder if he could do it this time.
Svatech (1) vs. Pegula (8)
This is a rematch of the same round of the French Open this year, when Svatech won easily 6-3, 6-2. They also met in the semifinals in Miami earlier this season, with Svatech winning 6-2 and 7-5. Their only other game took place in Washington three years ago when Pegula won. Pegula has become one of the most stable players in the WTA. The 28-year-old reached the quarter-finals in three of four majors this year and also reached the quarter- or better finals in four WTA 1000 events. Although Svatech achieved a brilliant record of 54 wins, 7 losses and 6 championships in 2022, she was not fully adapted on the fast hard field in New York, as did the balls she used in this game.
Sina(11)vsAlcalas (3)
The two have fought three times. In November, Alcalas won. Sina won the fourth round of Wimbledon on the grass in July this year. In Umarg's clay final, Sina won again. Now, they will meet at the outdoor hard ground. Both young men survived the last round of five sets, and Alcalas ended even later. Meanwhile, Sina has played in two five sets and one four set, so he has more problems than Alcalas.
