According to Taiwan media reports on April 20, the fourth "CP-1023" multi-functional boat of Taiwan's "Coast Patrol Administration" Fleet Branch arrived at Taiping Island in Nansha, and the Kaohsiung "Coast Patrol" Nansha Detachment immediately began ship performance training. The "Coast Patrol Administration" stated that it will strengthen patrol density and service intensity, strengthen law enforcement and emergency humanitarian rescue capabilities in the Nansha waters.
Taiwan's "Coast Patrol Administration" "Coast Patrol Vessel Development Plan" plans to build 50 coastal multi-functional boats. The first vessel was delivered on December 6, 2019. Subsequent vessels will be prioritized in key sea areas outlying islands to enhance patrol energy.
The fourth "CP-1023" boat was completed for acceptance and delivery on April 14, and arrived at Taiping Island, Nansha, on the 19th, and was attached to the Nansha detachment of the Kaohsiung Coast Guard. This type of multi-functional boat has a length of 11.86 meters, a width of 3.4 meters, a displacement of 8 tons, the hull is made of fiberglass, and is equipped with a 900-horsepower engine. Its top speed can reach 45 knots (approximately 83.34 kilometers/hour), and its endurance can reach 288 nautical miles. (approximately 553 kilometers).
Taiwan's "Coast Patrol Administration" stated that this type of boat has the characteristics of fast speed, shallow draft and high flexibility, and is suitable for life-saving rescue in coastal waters and cross-border speedboat inspection in offshore islands. In response to the demand for duty in the Nansha waters, we will continue to eliminate old small boats and add new multi-functional boats, which will effectively deter other countries’ fishing boats from transboundary operations and ensure maritime security and sustainability of marine resources.
