We drove a Lexus RX450h and traveled across rugged roads to explore the exquisite products in these hidden mountains and forests with the spirit of "exploring the extraordinary". In the process, we met many B&B owners and designers with detached attitudes and persistent beliefs, and felt the unique attitude of Zhejiang B&Bs.

When we arrived at the distant mountain, the housekeeper was waiting for us outside the door. After a brief greeting, he helped us carry our luggage and led us into the house. For people who often walk on mountain roads, this kind of greeting is really appropriate and beneficial.
Follow the housekeeper through the garden carefully created by the owner Wang Zheqi, who was born in garden landscape design. The garden is 2 and a half acres. In late autumn, holly fruits are set against the red maples. There is an illusion that the winding path leads to the secluded place and the layers of forest are dyed. When you walk through the thatched gate entrance and cross the wooden bridge, you can see the main building of the mountain in the distance. Two low-key earth buildings with rammed yellow mud walls are hidden in the middle of the mountain. It complements the green bamboo forest and does not interfere with each other.
Not only the garden, but also the entire distant mountain is full of Wang Zheqi’s hard work. He spent a lot of time studying the local scenery of Moganshan, and finally decided to use the most traditional earthen wall in Jiangnan for the exterior wall. The structure of the house is modern, with materials such as stones and bamboo added to express the local culture of Moganshan.
The distant mountain earth walls are delicate and do not shed dust, which cannot be achieved by traditional craftsmanship. In order to achieve this effect, Wang Zheqi himself thought for two months, holding a baking scale every day, improving the formula gram by gram. Compared with the amount of straw, the amount of mud, and the color, after repeatedly adjusting more than 30 plans, it actually succeeded.
In addition to focusing on hard furnishings, this man who usually does not like to go shopping for clothes is also very "overbearing" in soft furnishings for the sake of the integrity of his works.
Everything from the fireplace to the tea cans and pillows must be hand-picked and handled by him. Wang Zheqi could have left it to his own design company to solve these problems, but for the distant mountains, he did everything himself.
Like Wang Zheji, even the pillows in the B&B are carefully selected. Lexus’s decorative parts also use leather, soft materials, metallic materials, plus shimamoku ebony, paired with Lexus’s usual exquisite craftsmanship. This top-of-the-line model has a rich and luxurious atmosphere.
As for the male host Wang Zheqi’s seriousness in design, the female host Sister Jiang is also unambiguous in the operation of the B&B.
When Sister Jiang is training new employees, in addition to values, the most important thing is service. She told her employees: "When you don't know what to do, just think about it, this is my friend and he comes to my house, how would I treat him?" In addition to
services, Sister Jiang focuses on hygiene the most. She is not negligent at all. Sister Jiang has formulated 40 standards for ward rounds alone.
In the off-season, employees will be bored if they don't find something to do. At this time, Sister Jiang will guide employees to read " craftsmanship spirit ". At first, employees were unwilling to read it, but later Sister Jiang accompanied them to read it. After a long time, employees will say that it is good to read it this way. The flower arrangements in Distant Mountain are all the work of the hotel’s 70-year-old aunt. At a water source in the northeast of Qiandao Lake, we met this newly opened B&B, a snow pit that has not yet been overly commercialized. The village seems very quiet, and I can enjoy myself more here than in Mogan Mountain. Maoshan Qingtian is the only carefully designed B&B in this valley.
I opened the window in the morning and saw my aunt picking golden wild chrysanthemums on the hillside opposite. The owner said that the most important thing about a B&B is to experience the life of the locals, and there are different experiences here in four seasons.
In Maoshan Qingdao, they hope that guests can discover the joy of mountain life by themselves, and there are no specially prepared entertainment facilities.
The owner, Fu Chenggong, is just like his name. He has traveled to many places for study abroad and especially likes to travel on motorcycles. He got stuck in his car at an altitude of more than 5,000 meters on the -Xinjiang Highway and froze into an ice sculpture under the Niagara Falls. He had stayed in a local's home many times, which gave him the idea of opening a B&B. Before returning to China, he also opened a B&B in Thailand, but that was just renting a house in the city and preparing a few rooms for tourists. Maoshan Qingdao is the first time he has devoted his attention to design and management.
He hopes that guests can live a happy life here. He feels that people lose the ability to enjoy themselves when they grow up, and they always need to use some specific activities to be happy. Some people ask what activities there are here, but in fact there are many interesting things that you have to discover on your own.
In the summer, there will be many fireflies in the creek in front of the door. A French designer and his girlfriend came here to experience it. At night, they sat by the creek and watched the fireflies until midnight. Such a simple thing can do wonders. Make your guests very happy.
I found a lot of wild fruits that I used to eat when I was a kid by the fence in the garden. The owner said he didn’t even know they were edible, so I highly recommended him to try a few. In fact, I didn’t expect to see wild fruits from Northeast China in the mountains of Zhejiang. This is the fun I get here.
The name Maoshan Qingtian seems a bit Japanese, but in fact it is a combination of the name of the previous owner of this land "Maoshan" and the village "Qingtian Village", just like the names of each of their guest rooms "Mochuan, Danzhu, "Heshan" are the names of nearby villages.
Over the years, there have been fewer and fewer aborigines in the mountains. Many villages that once had hundreds of people only had a dozen people left. They were forced to merge into one village, and the original names were no longer used. In order to prevent these nice names and bits and pieces from the past from being forgotten, Cheng Cheng came up with this method of naming the village, just like many childhood memories that need to be evoked with something. designed the B&B, they did not hire a professional design team. They still wanted to add more of their own things to the building. They improved the folk houses in Zhejiang, because the local architecture is still a little bit Hui style, with white walls and black tiles. Based on the traditional design, they expanded the doors and windows to increase lighting.
The indoor white wall has been specially treated. Although it is still white, sand has been added to give the wall a layered and textured feel.Many houses still retain their original wooden beams, which of course also caused problems with waterproofing. In addition to retaining these wooden structures, he also insisted on using traditional methods to build the fireplace. Many B&Bs have fireplaces, but most of them are new-style electric stoves that lack quality. Qing Tianyi insisted on using real firewood for heating. In fact, it is not difficult to do this, and the smoke from the firewood will not flow back into the house.
Because of such a real and simple experience, I feel that I can relax by staying in the mountains once in a while.

Enjoy the slow time in the 1200-year-old ancient city
Cicheng, where Cishe is located, has a rare quietness in Jiangnan ancient towns, because it is far away from Ningbo urban area and there are few tourists. . You won’t see the crowds like Wuzhen here, it’s very quiet and suitable for daze.
It has been more than 1,200 years since Cicheng was established in the 26th year of Kaiyuan of the Tang Dynasty. The county seat was carefully designed when it was established. The entire county looks like a tortoise's back from a bird's eye view. It seems that designers thousands of years ago have buried the meaning of long-term development into the soil.
Cishe is an old house with three entrances, located in the northeast corner of Cicheng, with Cihu Lake to the north. This was the former residence of Ren Shigang, the clothing tycoon of the Republic of China. The internal wood and stone structure is well preserved, with white walls and black tiles. The owner of Cishe, Li Zhaohui, renovated and renovated it to make Cishe a place suitable for slow living.
The west wing is now moved to the next door, and the east wing and the open space in front of the door have become the current lobby and pool. There was no pool in the courtyard originally, and many of the rivers in the ancient city had been filled in by later roads. The designer combined ancient living habits and Feng Shui to dig out a pond, breaking the dullness of the courtyard.
They built a teahouse in the original corridor, and specially moved an entire wooden pavilion from an ancient village in Fujian, and hired a master to put it together as it was. You must know that dismantling and putting all mortise and tenon pavilions back together is not Lego bricks. Moreover, it has to be transported from Fujian, which is nearly a thousand kilometers away. They also specially searched for craftsmen who mastered the mortise and tenon skills to dare to do this. . By doing this, Cishe hopes that modern people will pay more attention to traditional things. Tradition not only belongs to the past, it also has its inheritance.
The walls are decorated with many porcelain plates, sunken wood, and Taihu stones. The Penglai Wonderland picture on one wall is particularly thoughtful in its conception. The ancient charm of the Tang Dynasty is displayed everywhere here.
In accordance with Li Zhaohui’s understanding of the slow lifestyle, Cishe uses the five words “Zen, Tea, Accommodation, Things, and Gathering” to express its business philosophy.
Charity House often holds gatherings and classroom activities. Its nine guest rooms adhere to the concept of "compassion and joy", and are simple and minimalist. Decorated with old wooden furniture, gray walls with vegetation, and cotton, linen, and bamboo mats, the blank spaces are more silent than loud. The clear and ethereal flower branches, the subtle fragrance, the sweet tea that coats the tongue, the simplicity of the Song Dynasty, the homes of the Ming Dynasty, the distant courtyards and empty rooms.
The main hall of the old house, "Sanjian Hall", has a three-bay structure and retains the lacquer plaque from the Republic of China period. There is a wooden floor in the middle and tatami mats in the east and west. One coincides with the ancient principle of "separating left and right, opening Tai Chi"; the other pursues the lifestyle of living on the floor and the sense of ritual retained in the scale.
Cishe has nine rooms. They are called the two truths, the three quantities, the four objects, the five objects, the six phases, the seven emptiness, the eight consciousnesses, the nine existences, and the ten clarities.
There is no noisy interference, no complicated decoration, but a comfortable bed. Lying on it, the body and mind return to the most comfortable state, and fall asleep deeply. In the dream, I saw the beginning of all things, a place of silence and beauty.

Traffic in Cicheng. The ancient city does not restrict vehicle traffic, but the roads in the ancient city are complicated and the lanes are narrow. It is recommended to park outside the city.
